Default I tried to kill my husband....

So today is a "rest" day from running but not from moving. It is really hot here in Southern Texas right now. Today when we went for a "walk" it was 100* with 88% humidity and no cloud coverage, although there was a slight breeze. I am an excellent speed walker. We did 5 miles and my husband was dying. He told me that when I speed walk it takes more out of him than running does. LOL. I had to slow down for him and we did our 5 miles at a 14 minute 28 second mile pace. He kept having to jog to keep up. Funny thing is that being 4'11" it should be harder for me with my little nubby legs but I've always been a fast walker. At any rate, my poor hubby was drenched from head to toe and I had to make sure to let him rest the rest of the night. LOL.

Hahaha I know the feeling of short legs. I too have always had to walk fast just to keep up. Now I have to slow down so my husband can keep up. Such a great problem to have ☺

I wasn't sure where you were going with that header but after I read it I had to smile. I completely understand. My significant and legal other tells me all the time that she walks more than me but when we go out anywhere, she's huffing and puffing and I'm bright and sassy. LOL.

    Good for you.

Hey, where in Texas are you? We're looking at the Arlington/Dallas area and Waco for retirement. In comparison, how hot is it where you are?

Take care and all the best.

I knew that header would grab some attention!! I love not being the fat out of shape spouse. My spouse is not fat or out of shape but I am just in better shape physically. My body's muscle memory has definitely responded as I used to be a runner several times in my life.
I am way down south in San Antonio. Dallas/FW get hot as well but I think it is definitely hotter down here. I love Texas, though. I think you and the wife will love it!

I'm not sure there is a spot here in Texas that isn't HOT right now. I live in North Texas by Wichita Falls and it's a balmy 90ish degrees this morning.

LOL at 4'11" I've always been one of those that have to play catch up. I can't wait to outwalk someone in my family. 6 more days and I'll be joining the wonderful sleeved world. Christie, how long did it take you to get your energy and walking level up that high?

PS, I have 5 acres and a shovel anytime you decide to move the body

I'm south of you in Fort Worth...it's currently 79 degrees this morning, but expected to reach a high of 95.

It's hard to get out and walk when the weather is so disagreeable. We had over 20 consecutive days of more than 100 deg weather last month here in Central California. A lot of days around the 110 deg mark. We're having a cold snap now, just the middle 90's. No enclosed malls close to use for walking, so I'm using the local super market and walk around and around the store pushing a shopping cart and putting in a few groceries as I go. Where there's a will, there's a way.

I know what you mean firsthand...I used to live in Bakersfield and my father still lives there. I won't visit him during the summer because it's deplorably hot in the Central Valley this time of year.

I had energy relatively quickly. I had surgery in November and by January I was building up my running stamina. I did have some set backs due to low vitamin D that was making my hips hurt and I had to take time off from running. I could only speed walk. But after getting my D level up I feel GREAT. Losing all that excess weight gives you amazing energy as long as you stay hydrated and eat enough protein.
