    Unhappy Feeling Depressed

    Hi everyone,

So I am 2 weeks post op and I am feeling very depressed. My surgery itself went well but my body did not. I ended up in the ICU for 3 days and then 3 more days to stay. My body seems to be going through some hormonal changes and I'm not liking it.

Help, anyone else feel this way?

I never did, was always ecstatically happy, but according to my psychiatrist depression happens a lot. (Said some people just start crying and don't even know why!) A medical professional will probably be able to help. Good luck!

Or maybe it's not depression, just the trauma of recovering from major medical complications. Either way, feel better soon! It will get better.

I went through some emotional type stuff the first several weeks. I found I was more agitated than I normally am, lol. But it passed.

    Hope the same for you!

I was emotional the first few weeks as well. I withdrew from my closest friends and family. It passed after a few weeks and I went back to normal. I would talk to someone about it. You and your body are going thru some major changes, its natural to feel different. I hope things get better and I am sorry to hear that your surgery didn't go as well as most of ours did.

Did any of you also have the fears of not losing the weight? I am going through that now even though I have lost weight 20# in 2 weeks and I hardly eat anything but I get these overwhelming fears that I went through all of this for nothing for some reason. Maybe I am just being crazy.

You are not going crazy. I swear I thought they didn't do anything and it was all a big scam. I thought I would feel my stomach gone or something, of course I didn't. I had a lot of bloating afterward and that didn't do me any good. It will pass and when YOU start noticing a difference, you will feel better. Everything you are feeling, we felt.

Thanks, I really needed some reassurance from others who have been through this. My husbands thinks I'm nuts currently. I'm trying to avoid weighing myself as often as possible so that I can reduce the anxiety. It doesn't help that I'm impatient and a control freak of sorts so this has magnified those tendencies to epic levels of neurotic.

I made myself crazy by weighing myself everday and then I had my first stall and I stopped that quickly. Now I weigh myself once a week. Good luck and tell your husband just to be a tab patient and let you have your moments LOL.

I haven't had my surgery yet, so I can't speak to what the post-op experience is like. I did want to offer my support and let you know that from what I've read your fears are pretty common. I hope you continue to feel better and I am sorry you had the complications you did. Take care.
