Default Numbers slowing but NSV shopping for clothes

Coming up on 5 months post surgery, haven't been seeing much movement in scale numbers from week to week but it is still slowly ticking down. I feel better and people notice all the time. More active and able to do most anything I want. Recently I have had plenty of "mind-hunger", even though I am not physically hungry. I have moments and urges to go eat something but I fight them with a bottle of water or stick of gum. It's not uncontrollable but it's annoying.

One major NSV was when I needed to have some decent casual work clothes for a trip and I visited local JCPenney. Grabbed size I thought I needed and tried them on and I realized I might be able to fit in next size down, and sure thing I went down one size in both shirt and pants and they fit.
I started this journey at size 44x32 jeans (loose fit), and I just bought 36x32 regular fit Dockers. Aso I started with 3X shirts (sometimes 4X) and I got a couple size XL golf shirts. I was so stoked, first to be smaller sizes and second to be able to shop in the "normal" size sections of the store. That is something I haven't been able to do in 15 or so years.

I am so looking forward to shopping for new clothes in September for my cruise first week in October. More motivation to keep it up!

Your doing great! I am 3 weeks post op and have only lost 12 lbs since my surgery so I wont be one of the 30 lb losers in a month. I dont care, as long as it comes off, its better it comes off slower anyway so youd ont have tons of loose skin hanging all over lol

Best feeling ever having to get a smaller size! I cried yesterday when that happened to me. All of us know the struggle of clothes shopping and like you said it is so nice to shop normal sizes! Keep up the good work!

The smaller sizes are awesome. The scale is not always the best indicator of our journey although it is definitely a factor. I was so thankful for having my progress pictures and measurements. It totally helped me stay focused and realize that weight was not the only measure of my success. Keep on keeping on...you got this. BTW....whenever the scale seemed to slow or stall....I was usually eating too little. When I healthily upped my calories it always got the scale moving again.

How is everyone losing 30 lbs their first month and I just lost 12 lbs in 3 weeks! I am only on liquids and soup and cottage cz or yogurt and some days the scale doesnt even move. This is so frustrating!

One of the greatest feelings is buying new clothes that you can't imagine would of fit! Don't buy too many though, a month from now you'll be looking for another set!

I started out in 42 pants and am now a 34! I can't remember when I last wore a 34 (9th grade???). Problem is that the 34's are starting to get a little loose in the waist. I might freak out if I need to get 32's!

Getting new thin clothes is such a confidence booster! Have fun.

Not everyone is losing 30 lbs in month one. BUT those are the people who stand out to us. I know you are past week 4 so not worried about telling you what week 4 foods were. Hope you are still doing well.

    NYC,
You really don't need to loose 30 pounds in 1 month, yes others have done more, both my wife and I have VSG 10 days apart to assist each other PO, we each have our own WLS journey's, we eat the same she exercises more then me and I lost more then her, each body is a different unit. Slower weight loss will help in the skin conditions. You will do fine, keep the faith, I have to reassure my wife daily that all is part of life's balance. I am 252 days PO and have just hit 185 Lbs (-86), just 7 pounds above my goal weight. Laura is 262 days PO (-63) and still is working on those last 30..... It takes time, rest assured you made the right choice.....

    Have a Great day!!!
