1st POST OP lab Results Are In

I had my blood tests last week and I see the doctor Wednesday. I got a message earlier today from the lab that my results are ready online, so I looked them over. Every one of them came out in the normal range, with the exception of one: Pth intact. It read that it was HIGH (normal range goes up to 65) and mine is at 69. I read up on it and not sure what to make out of it. I see the surgeon Wed. (who I will NOT be seeing after this appointment!) and guess I'll hear what he say's. According to a web site about Pth it say's: The so-called intact PTH is the most frequently ordered parathyroid hormone test. It is used to help diagnose the cause of a low or high calcium level and to help distinguish between parathyroid-related and non-parathyroid-related causes. It may also be used to monitor the effectiveness of treatment when an individual has a parathyroid-related condition."

My calcium levels were tested are normal and I have not had a thyroid issue. Has anyone else experienced this?

Never even heard of it and then reading what you found seems confusing. Let us know what your doctor says.

I thought all of my results were normal except for HDL ams sodium. Dr said my Vitamin D was low. Prescribed weekly pill. Who knew.

I'd never heard of it either. Every test was in the normal range: calcium, albumin, vitamin D, and a couple others. Just this "Pth, intact" was high. I'll let you know what I hear.

I did my last post-op on Saturday and my surgeon specifically asked me to do that blood test when I'm back in France (for my 2 years) because even if my calcium level is ok, it doesn't mean than it's absorbed properly, it could be coming from my bones. In my case it's to make sure I'm not getting osteoporosis. But there's probably other reasons...
