    Default Shrinking already

Since surgery just 8 days ago, I found that one of my favorite blouses is too big. I noticed sitting in a meeting today (first day back to work) that it was just about to my knee. That got me thinking that my pants are quite loose too- so when I got home I pulled some old pants out of the closet. I've been a 22 for quite some time. The first pair I tried on was a pair of size 18 capris, and I was able to get them on but they are a touch snug. So I pulled out a pair of size 20 pants and put them on and they are comfortably loose! I ironed them and an older blouse that matches, and that's what I'm wearing to work.

I can not believe the progress I've made so quickly. It's extremely motivational. I've been super tired the past couple of days but I still managed to get over 8,000 steps on my fitbit for the day- I'm so excited to keep on working and to keep shopping out of my own closet! I have made myself a promise that as soon as clothes are too big, they are leaving my house (there is a great thrift store nearby). I'm going to buy only the absolute minimum to keep myself decent until my weight stabilizes in the meantime- probably from the same thrift store.

One weird thing- I think my sandals are a little loose?! I had to put a bandaid on my right heel where it was rubbing. These sandals fit perfectly all spring and summer. Are my FEET losing weight already?!

Good for you! I love the idea of shopping in my own closet! I have clothes with tags on them that I have never warn before I outgrew them or clothes I bought as incentives to lose weight. I am thinking of sorting my closet with size rings and getting rid of the bigger ones as I shrink also. I found a shelter I can donate them to. 28 days to go... ha ha it's just after midnight.. down to 27! I have a professional training I would love to attend but it's only a few days after my surgery. I wouldn't have to do much other than sit but am not sure how long I need to take off to recover. How quickly did you go back to work?

Suzjsan- I had surgery last Tuesday and today (Wednesday) is my first day back, so only 8 days. However, I am a community college nursing instructor so my job isn't physically strenuous at all, at least during the summer! I am working tomorrow and then I won't be back on campus until next week. Best wishes this last few weeks as you sort your clothing and get prepared to change your life!

Sandra, I am feeling a little sad about my shoes too. I live in the upper midwest, so I have shoes for all seasons, and I will probably shrink myself right out of all of them. It's always been a comfort to me to shop for beautiful shoes, since "big lady" clothes are often dumpy and practical. However, I agree with you- having to replace my shoes (and everything else I wear!) is 100% worth it. I'm looking forward to buying inexpensive replacements for most of my clothing in "normal" sizes, and I think that shoe shopping will still be comforting at a smaller size

Thats amazing - well done. Reading your post has motivated me and quelled my nerves - my surgery is just over two weeks away and I can't wait to ditch the old clothes and start shopping from my wardrobe!! I have a selection of clothes from size UK 26 down to 16 as I have yo-yo dieted most of my life!!

Can you tell me, how was the actual operation and initial recovery? You did very well going back to work so soon, I have booked two weeks off work after my surgery so hopefully I'll be recovered enough to go back by then.

    Best wishes xx

Isn't it fun? Your first year will amazing. Don't spend much on clothes, you will "undergrow" them before taking off tags. Try to get along with as little as possible, or try thrift shops.

Then when you hit goal, control yourself! I did not, and have more clothes than I can wear. It was just too much fun buying things in normal sizes.

My feet got smaller too. So all I have from three years ago are socks.

    Truly a great feeling!

I don't like shopping ( well... let me reframe... ) I LOATHED shopping, as in past tense, specially shoes! I'm sorry shoe size 10.5/11 on my previous weight just didn't look sexy or comfortable ever! I tried, believe me I tried!

Since losing 75+lbs. I'm one size smaller, 9.5/10, my left foot is half inch longer than my right so I still have to get 10's. My choices are still limited, but I am finding that they fit nicer as that's kind of addicting. Mind you, I did have to replace a lot of my dressy shoes. It is just not fun walking and shoe flying off. I did have a few pair of 9.5w sandals/flip flops that were gifted to me years ago and those I am wearing comfortably. My Chaccos, size 10, which I have had for ten years finally look normal lol! Not like an overstuffed burrito wearing Roman sandals.

In the spring I went to a few outlet stores, and bought 2 size 8 jean cut off shorts, every week I tried them on for size... guess what! I have been wearing the heck out of them this week, I am over a year out and still slowly losing.

I like playing dress up these days! I was never a huge shopper, I am starting to look forward to finding good sales. I don't have a lot of disposable income and on a tight soon to be even tighter graduate student budget, so what I am saying if you are a smart shopper you can look amazing in all your in between sizes as you keep shrinking! And why not!?! You deserve it!

So excited for you! It's so wonderful to feel and see the difference. I had surgery May 23rd along with my daughter. Like you, I have noticed my feet slimming down as well... that's so weird to me! Lol... I too like the idea of getting rid of clothes that don't fit. I have already cleared out my closet as well and donated to a local thrift store. But best wishes on your continued success!

Congratulation jcook2! It is the best feeling ever! You will lose weight so fast that when you go back to try on those 18's they will be too big. I have taken bags and bags of clothing to the thrift store and that is where I get my "new" smaller clothing from. I had to give a away shoes too because I went down half a shoe size.

My surgery was 10/21/16 and I was wearing a 18/20's Today I am wearing 14's very loose and some 12's. I am amazed.

My daughter even gave some some of her old clothing and WOW, I can fit her thing now.

    Enjoy the journey!

Sandra3 I was kind of sad some of my favorite outfits are way too big. I found a tailor who can take clothing down 2 sizes but my goal is size 10 so he would only be able to help with the 14's. I have tons of clothing that is 16 or 18. Business suits still with price tags on them. I guess I will donate them to a shelter or thrift.

I would not trade being fit for anything.

    Jill,

So happy for your progress! I'm just 1 day behind you and starting to experience the same things. When I dressed today to go to my 1st post op Dr appointment, I found that my size 22 jeans that were tight before surgery are now really loose! I couldn't be happier. I should be able to shop out of my closet for months thanks to many years of yo-yo dieting.

    Continued success!

Yay!! I shopped the clothes in my closet as well. And I was running through sizes quickly. Do not shop full force until you are at goal. It'll be so much more fun and save you money!! Congrats on your success!!
