I'm 4 days post op and looking forward to some sugar free jello and popsicles but seam to get a headache whenever I eat them. Anyone else experience this?

I remember having severe headaches post-op for about a week or so before they stopped. Looking back I think it could have been from the lack of calories and liquids combined that caused it. It could have been from the sugar free items I was eating or just as well could have been from all the meds and trauma of surgery. I guess I will never know but Good thing is that they faded after a bit of time. Good luck to you and hang in there.
I have always disliked the flavor of sugar substitutes- now that I can only "eat" a couple ounces a day, I am not wasting time on sugar free jello and the like. Try some regular or protein-added greek yogurt instead, you'll actually get some nutrition out of them and taste good too! Best of luck on your journey!
Some people do have reactions like you describe from sugar substitutes that are used the 2 biggest ones that cause reactions are sugar alcohols and aspertine. Read the labels and you may fine one of the 2 to be in what you are eating.
I didn't suffer any headaches post-op. But some of the worst headaches I've ever had have been caffeine-withdrawal ones.
Pre-op, knowing I couldn't drink coffee for a while post-op, I ratcheted down until I was drinking only one cup a day. Good news was my doc gave me the coffee go-ahead (1 cup a day) 10 days post-op. I hugged and kissed him!
