    Talking nervous screams

ok so I'm scheduled for surgery 8/8, I have appointments needed for clearance all the way up until 8/2. So naturally, I was a bit nervous about cutting things too close (as I wear this right now I have a Holter monitor on for the next 24 hours). But nonetheless, I was quietly getting things ready for the liquid diet and life after surgery.

For the last few weeks, I've been habitually pouring over my manuals and sample shopping lists for each week and thinking "Hells bells, I just want to be going into surgery right now" or "the more I read about it the more excited I get" or "I just want to be on the other side of surgery", etc. etc. etc.

Flash forward to 30 minutes ago and the phone rings. The hospital is calling to let me know that my surgeon is moving to Massachusetts to care for a sick relative so they need to move my surgery and change my surgeon. Instantly I'm like "oh f***, do yall remember I'm leaving for school on 8/27? I can't really afford to have it pushed back much farther without my recuperation time getting cut off at the knees." and the girl says "oh yeah we have that written here. we're going to move you up a week! How does 8/1 sound?"

naturally, I jumped on that offer before the words even left her mouth (my other option was 8/14 and that would be cutting it waaaaaay too close to leaving for the hustle-and-bustle of Manhattan).

Am I crazy for being a little nervous right now? I mean, I still have to buy my vitamins and switch around 2 of my appointments. I start my liquid diet in less than a week and I now have 13 days until my surgery. My head is spinning a bit and I have to remember that my freaking heart rate is being monitored right now.

But just so this post doesn't come off as "cold feet"-ish I figured I'd reiterate that through all the anxiety and with how quickly everything seems to be moving so suddenly, my primary emotion at this point is essentially elated anticipation.
There's nothing i want more for myself than a chance to get and stay healthy and play an active role in giving myself a longer life. I'm so so so happy and nervous but i dont intend to f*** this up.

    xoxoxo,
    Kate
