    Default Crushed pills ?

    Hey Friends,

I am almost 1 week since I was sleeved. Every day gets better. I have 2 pills my doctor wants me to crush. They taste HORRIBLE and I can't do it. I have really bad gag reflexes.

One is very small (estrogen) and I have just been cutting it in half and swallowing it. The other one (wellbutrin) I have not been taking....boo.

Any suggestions/comments. I see my doctor again next Monday.

    Thanks,

    Amina

I take - and have been taking- my teeny tiny estrogen pill since surgery. NO WAY I can handle that crushed up taste no matter HOW I mix it (with a dab of applesauce or yogurt. The vomiting was SO not worth it.)

I have been swallowing most of my pills now- one at at time- unlike the handful I would toss down my throat before surgery in march. I can't take my multi vitamin pills, they are just TOO large, so I take Centrum Vitamints and chew them up. But the rest of my pills (for rheumatoid arthritis, I take 3) I just swallow them.

I've never crushed any of my pills. Just place them a cup of yogurt or pudding and swallow them whole. They'll slide smoothly as you swallow. Problem solved.

Surgeon cleared me for pills on day 3 and I take it one by one, usually with my morning shake.

Sometimes my big omegas got stuck so I found smaller ones. I'm lucky that I currently don't take any medication daily because I already take so many supplements! it takes some time to get everything down.
The first few weeks post-op I had a fever and didn't want to take a Panadol (too large) so I took the liquid form, the taste made me so sick I actually went back to the pill. I try to always take the gel form or coated pills if possible.

Thanks everyone. I am pretty sure that I can swallow the pills, I was worried that they wouldn't get broken down in stomach. But I am not having a problem drinking water and the pill sizes are small....I appreciate the responses.

I could not take my crushed BP medication because it would make me wretch. I just swallowed it. No issues whatsoever.
