I felt some "compression" from the gas but it was gone in a few days.
You can't gulp anymore, just sip sip sip all day.
But if you feel pain when you lay down that could be reflux. Do you take a PPI? most surgeon give it after surgery.

Welcome. The tightness in chest and discomfort laying down due to it lasted me a couple weeks, I seemed to trap the gas there. Walk alot, move your arms and the gas x helps to. Congratulations on your new life.

GAS!!!! The pain you're feeling is likely from the gas they put in your abdomen during the surgery. GasX strips or otherwise will do nothing to relieve it. You need to WALK, WALK, WALK.

I had similar pains right after surgery, they were horrible, and the pain meds (morphine pump) did nothing to relieve them. I called the nurse and said I wanted to go walk, and after a few laps around the floor, I was feeling much better.

    WALK WALK WALK!

Congrats, good luck, and welcome aboard!

I felt horrible the first 2 days after surgery. Today is my 3rd day and I started out feeling rough but I feel so much better now. Just getting up, taking a shower, getting dressed in comfortable clothes, and wandering around my house watering my plants and tidying up helped so much. I also had half a cup of coffee with a touch of fat free half and half, and I didn't take any of the liquid Lortab (pain medicine) this morning. I think the pain medicine was making me feel bad/headache. I am having that sort of painful swallowing thing too, so I have been trying to just constantly take tiny sips from a small glass all day and to not bother with anything but the protein shake and water. I was a wreck when I went to bed last night on night 2 after surgery, wondering how long I was going to feel so bad, but I'm feeling better and hopeful today. I hope it's the same for you tomorrow!
