Take some pictures pre-surgery from the worst possible angles in the worst possible light. Take your body measurements pre-surgery too. You will use these when times are tough so you can motivate off of how far you have come.

And lastly, be selfish. Eat what you need to and make your family tag along. Exercise as much as you need to and make your family tag along. Take time for yourself as you need to and make your family pick up some of your slack. This process is about you getting healthy and they cannot stand in your way or sabotage your weight loss. YOU have to set aside what YOU need for YOURSELF.

Definitely take some pre-surgery pictures! When you go back and look at them in 4, 8, 12 weeks, etc you will be amazed and so happy with yourself! Also, take some body measurements, I didn't do this and am disappointed that I can't compare the numbers.

Take a bunch of days after surgery to rest and then start exercising! Walk, walk, walk! It is, and has been the key to my current success.

Remember the first week can be rough but it gets easier every day. Eating will be hard initially. Eventually it gets easier. Most people hit a stall between weeks 3 and 5. That will make you feel like you've failed but it's just your body catching up. Take some pictures before surgery in a bikini or sports bra and undies. Also take measurements. Then keep doing that every 2 weeks. Even when you stall you'll see your body changing. Breathe. You got this!
