I am self pay and looking for a good doctor that will not break the bank. I'm not interested in Mexico, I would prefer a doctor that is in the South East , I live in Atlanta.

There's a Dr. Borland in New Iberia, Louisiana. A few years ago he was sleeving people for $9,800. His price may have increased in recent years, though. There's also Dr. Pleatman in Michigan who charges about $12,000 all-inclusive.

Thanks! I will check him out!
Nashville has a great team, but kind of expensive. I was self pay, and Nashville was about $2000 more than local doctors, but I felt like it was worth it. I went to Dr Houston, several in town told me he is the best "in the country". Looking at complication rates they seem to be better than others I looked at.
I suggest looking at this from a life time perspective, and in that regard, potentially life threatening, so I suggest weighing cost vs value. Dr Houston will require you stay in hospital for 3 days, will do test a couple days after surgery to ensure there are no leaks, etc. My procedure was wildly easy, recovery was VERY fast, and I was in the gym and going to work less than a week after surgery. I actually went to work 2 days after leaving hospital.
I know others have various opinions, and reasonable people can disagree reasonably. I respect others who have had different facts and experiences may have different opinions.
How do you check the complication rate for a doctor?
I used Dr. Bellanger in Baton Rouge. The cash price was 15K. It included all preop testing and the psyc exam. I was in the hospital one night. Honestly, I cannot recommend him enough. His technique is amazing, and I can wear a bikini without visible scars. One thing to consider if paying cash is the option to get complication insurance. It was included in his cost, which made me very happy. My insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery, so if I had had any complications, it wouldn't have been covered. Having that policy gave me an enormous piece of mind!
Do you know where I can get complication insurance?
