Odds are your body is trying to catch up. 40 lbs since 6/14 is a lot of weight. Relax and keep following the plan. You will lose muscle mass due to the extreme weight loss. You will need to strength train once cleared by your surgeon.

Stalls are normal and expected. Losing a little muscle mass too, especially at the beginning.

The only time I lost muscle mass was during the first three months. I had a scan (equivalent of the DEXA) at my 3 months post-op and was worried. But at that stage I couldn't eat enough protein every day (I was really nauseous) but as soon as I was able to get those 60gr of protein per day, I only lost fat.
It's important to really eat enough protein, but not just from shakes, because assimilation is better from food, so I did mix meat in my veggie soup when I was in full liquid, or had soups made with bean, lentils or tofu.
