Ha! Totally echo the above! Hunger I was able to somewhat manage after I added fiber and try anti acid chews like Tums. But fiber or water was not enough apparently for the first 4-5 months and I had chronic constipation and it is really an uncomfortable feeling no one talks about a lot. It wasn't until I discovered Organic Triple Fiber that I found some relief without the worry of long term use affects or damage.

Shirl, I take Linzess prescription capsules for constipation. They are a miracle drug if ever there was one. They don't make my stomach cramp, and I am able to go like clockwork every morning. I recommended them to a mom for her brain injured daughter who was struggling, and she was so thankful to me afterwards. They really are excellent, if you find you continue to have issues with constipation.

    1. No one told me I'd be profoundly constipated for the first six months post-op.
    2. No one told me that my taste buds would change (I wasted a lot of food).
    3. No one told me that my sleeve's capacity might increase over time.
    4. No one told me that my sleeve's restriction might lessen over time.
    5. No one told me my serum cholesterol levels may increase instead of decrease.

Ok, I know y'all think I'm a Pollyanna, but I was on this board for 9 months pre-op reading my ass off. I think I heard it all before surgery ... including the truth that just because "it" happened to Jane or Joe or Sally that it wouldn't necessarily happen to me.

I will also say that, 3 years down the road, this still feels like a miracle. Some mornings I feel my ribs, my collarbones, my cheekbones and think I've died and gone to heaven. I was so fucking miserable weighing 100 pounds more than I do now. The difference is like living on another planet. For me.

I agree 100% on the constipation. The struggle is real. I also did not realize how much of a struggle it would be to eat initially. I mean, you read about it, but until it is you trying to get some food down without feeling ill it really is hard to understand the phenomena. I also did not know that my taste buds would change post op. Do not stock up on protein shakes....your taste buds may betray you. LOL.

No one told me if you have complications how how bad they can be, how painful they can be, & that it can take a long time to get over them. But I'm still glad I had the surgery, it sure makes a big difference in being able to control your weight. It makes losing weight easier & gaining weight harder...

Some people think I'm a Pollyanna too! I just refuse to let bad shit that happened take the joy out of life for me! But I don't think that's what you are talking about lol!

I hear what you are saying tho! I read all posts and did a lot of research and definitely was aware, but experience it for oneself for the first time is surreal! I'm not touching bones yet, but I noticed I can see a definite definition of my chest case, where all I use to see was muffin top cleavage (I don't know how else to describe it).

I often times think of the psychological affects on me about my changing body. I often times think I had the opposite of body dysmorphia, but now it's hard for me to see the real difference and good changes happening.

Katrina, that is great info to know. Fortunately, constipation is a thing of the past, for me, thank goodness!
