    Default 12 weeks post opp

Today is 12 weeks since my sleeved gastrectomy, 75lbs down.

This is the best thing I've ever done, food is going well and I haven't had an alcoholic drink in over 14 weeks - and haven't missed it once!

I'm 14lbs off my original target, but am curious as to how much more weight I'm going to loose over the next few months.

The losses have slowed down, now 2-3 lbs a week, in the early days 1-2lbs a day👍

Congrats Michael. You are doing fantastic. My surgery is next Monday. Food and drink got me to the weight I am now so I am not worried about missing them... especially the drink afterwards. I am looking forward to eating healthy food and being able to exercise again (more comfortably).

From everything that I have read, your body actually sets your goal weight ... you might lose more than you originally thought? Other members will chime in I am sure. Again, CONGRATS!!!! I hope to be where you are very, very soon!! (hugs)

Wow that is fantastic. I too have not missed alcohol. I had nothing to drink for 1 year and one glass of wine is all I drink. I find alcohol is hard on my stomach.

    Hi Michael,

And congrats, you are doing amazing! no doubt that you will reach your target in no time...I bet you will be at least 30 pounds under your goal at one year!

I'm 17 months out and can't even drink a sip of wine without being sick...so it might take me longer than others, and I was not a drinker before the sleeve anyway, but liked a good glass of Burgundy twice a year...well, not anymore. I must say I like my new health and weight much better any way!

    Take care!

I'm certainly surprised at how well things have gone for me. I've only felt sick a few times and that because I took the (stomach) anti acid tablet before I'd had any breakfast.

Weight - well around 5 years ago I had a body composition analysis and that indicated a skeletal mass of 182lbs (just my bones, nothing else!). The Doctor thought a minimum weight (he called it my Olympic fighting weight!) when factoring in organs, muscle, tendons, fluids etc would be around 224lbs, which is 29lbs away from where I am now.

Congratulations your doing great. No way to know how fast you'll loose rest of your weight. Keep following your diet and exercise and it will come off. Increase protein and water if you stall to long.It is the best feeling getting this weight off. Best of luck.
