Default Revision Band to Sleeve July 7 in Mexico

    Hello All!!

I got the band in April 2009 and it worked pretty well for awhile, but as time passed my weight started picking up again.
I chose Dr Galileo Villarreal in Nuevo Laredo to do the revision surgery.

I want to know what to expect as far as recovery time and what I can realistically expect to do.
I remember with the band I was pretty ill on the trip from the surgery center to my house, that was the same day, everything after that is kind of a blur. It seems like days 2 -5 were ok, I just got tired easily.

I have to go back to work July 11, fortunately I work from home. But still.

Also, any stories of anyone having bariatric surgery in Mexico?

    Any help would be appreciated!!

    Carla

Welcome Carla. You will find other sleevers on here who were revised from a lap band. Recovery isn't too bad. The first week is the hardest. Mostly due to being tired and not wanting much to eat or drink. You will have to make your self get your fluid/protein in in the beginning. So the best advice is to sip frequently and walk frequently. Walking helps expel the gas from surgery. Some people use gasx strips...I did not so I cannot really speak to them. I did find warm liquids easier post op than cold and it took a while to tolerate the sweet taste of protein shakes post op. I survived on warm tea, creamed soups made with nonfat milk, nonfat latte's from Starbucks, broth, and popsicles that first couple of weeks. My protein all came from milk. A great one to try is the Fa!rlife milk because it has more protein in it. Eventually I could drink the shakes. Every day will get easier post op. Good luck and reach out when you need help or support.
