    Default Time for change

Hello, I am a 50 year old registered nurse that up until last 3 years was very active and relatively fit. I couldn't take the weight any longer so I decided to change my life forever. I am 9 days out and slightly discouraged because the scale isn't showing much progress. I haven't had many issues. I seem to be able to take fluid easily and without too much pain. I just hope my stall ends soon and I see progress.

    Hi Jeri,

    Welcome to the forum!

I came back from the hospital with water retention and actually gained weight! But as soon as the chemicals from the anesthesia will be flushed away, it can take a few days, you will see a major difference. Many here also use measurements because sometimes even if you don't lose weight on the scale, inches still go away.

Losing weight after my surgery was different compare to how I could lose weight before, just with a diet. I have been a slow loser and had many stalls, but at the end, little by little it will all ad up.

If you can drink easily it is a good thing, I couldn't. Also watching your protein intake closely will help for the recovery but also to keep your muscle mass in the long run.

I wish you an easy recovery!
    Take care!

Jeri I felt that way in the beginning because it seemed like I was not really losing anything but here I am just 7 1/2 months post op and I have hit my goal weight. I was a steady loser but never dropping huge numbers like some people do. While I started on a smaller weight size it was due to my short stature. (I am 4'11".) I started at a 41.8 BMI. But now I am healthy and in a normal weight BMI!! It is a great tool as long as you follow the rules and eat healthy. Good luck on your journey and welcome!

Don't compare yourself to others. You will lose if you follow your program. Be patient. You have caveman DNA. By that I mean as a hunter gather, you body knows there will be lean times and the body needs to make sure you make it to the next meal. It will try to hold stasis until it no longer can.

Don't worry about the stalls... I've had several, and I had my surgery 2 months ago. The first stall I had started about a week after my sleeve surgery. And that stall lasted for almost 3 weeks, so it was very discouraging! I then started to lose again, but now have hit another stall. Well, I keep losing and regaining the same 5 lbs. But, it too shall pass! Hang in there. Wishing you continued success along your journey!

Okay guys well, this last week I have been definately losing weight but the entire week was having left shoulder and clavicular pain. The pain wakes me from dead sleep. I really do believe its slowly getting better but OMG, its painful. Anyone else had the trapped air pain this far out and this long? I exercise everyday, walk, swim etc.
