My name is Eileen G. I have been morbidly obese since I was in my 20's. I had gastric sleeve surgery on 5-31-17
at 316#. I have only lost 17 # and I am very discouraged. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Eileen G
First of all, you cannot compare your numbers to anyone else's. That being said, give us a sample of what you are eating on a daily basis so we can give you solid advice. Some people lose very quickly and some lose slower. Dehydration and not enough protein can make you lose slower. Whenever I have had my weight loss slow or stall has always been when I needed to up my calorie/protein intake. Regardless...17 lbs in 3 weeks is nothing to complain about.
Take a look at the signature block below my post to see my monthly losses. You'll notice that I never once lost 17 pounds in a month, let alone three weeks.
What makes you think there's something wrong with your rate of weight loss? It's not as if you gained the weight overnight, so you will not lose it overnight either. Good luck to you.

My starting weight was close from yours. And I came back from the hospital with a gain (water retention). At one month I was around where you currently are so no worries! little by little it will all ad up! I'm a slow loser but consistency is the key! I'm not at goal yet but doing great compare to two years ago. Just be patient, expect stalls and plateaus, don't stress over it. Follow your guideline and you will do fine! take care.

I agree with everyone else. Sounds like you are doing just fine. I have dealt with many stalls along the way... The first one happened just 1 week after surgery, and lasted almost 3 weeks! Man, was that one hard... But, just keep doing what you're doing and it will pass. Also, don't rely too much on the numbers on the scale, as weight fluctuates so much from day to day. Do you notice your clothes fit better? I notice most of my weight loss in my face, shoulders, and chest area. I'm not so happy about losing my chest volume though! It's funny though, because those weren't my biggest areas, and didn't really need to lose much weight, LOL.
Keep up the good work, and it will be more noticeable in a few weeks!
Hi Eileen, welcome to the site! You are in the right place for amazing support and a wealth of information and experience from countless others traveling along the same journey. Everyone here is fantastic!! As you move forward, be sure to post your experiences so you can help others too. Most importantly ~ here's wishing you MUCH SUCCESS (hugs) -17 lbs. is fantastic... and you are only at the start!!! Stay on plan and you will be successful
If you are doing just what your surgeon/nutritionist told you to do, you are fine. Don't stress, in fact hiding your scale may help. The weight will come off.
Don't compare yourself to others and remember, stalls happen.
