Smile Sleeved, 2 days post op.

    Hi,

I just got home from the hospital, yesterday. The 2 hr car ride home was rough. Only thing I've been able to keep down so far is water. I had an oz of broth and few tiny bites of strawberry jello. Kept that down, they brought me the same thing for lunch and it cramped me up so I didn't even try any broth when I got home. Just been sipping on water and forcing the medicine down. But going to try some more broth and jello this morning. All you can do is keep trying, right? The pain does seem to lessen each day. I was able to get up and use the restroom by myself when I woke up this morning.

It will get a little easier each day Kristy! For me warm fluids were easier immediately post op. Now I can drink any temperature. It is going to be hard to get in the fluid/protein goals in the beginning but you have to keep sipping away. You do not want to become nutrient deficient. Every day it is a bit easier. You got this. This first week is definitely the hardest!!

It's also hard because I'm so use to just downing water when thirsty. Now I can't. Lol

I used to be the same way. I drank so much that people often asked if I had been checked for diabetes. I was not even pre diabetic. And when I drank, I guzzled. No matter what it was. My kids hated if I asked for a "drink" because they knew half would be gone. I can drink a lot faster now....but still cannot guzzle. I do not drink any caloric drinks other than my nonfat latte. (Espresso coffee and nonfat milk....breakfast of champions.) All my other drinks are calorie free....which will help me to maintain my weight loss. Just remember to ALWAYS have a bottle of water (or whatever other non caloric drink) on you at all times. Sip frequently. Set a timer if you have to. You got this!

Cool Re: Sleeved, 2 days post op.

That is true for me too. I have to stop and think how I drink liquids now - hopefully it'll be second nature soon. I'm 2 days post-surgery and the worst for me is taking my medicine crushed. Just had my first meal - 1/3 cup of creamy tomato soup.

I am still on all clear liquid diet, until Monday. But while I was in the hospital the first meal. They tried to feed me tomato soup and three teaspoons in it all came back up. When the surgeon came seen me the next morning, I told her what happened. She was furious with the nurse s. Told them I was strictly on broth and jello.

    Hang in there!

For me, two days post op. I'm thirsty, but not real thirsty. I'm very aware because of the discomfort the last two days. But I'm just trying to sip, sip, sip as my surgeon has instructed. I don't even feel hungry...

Sorry your having a tough time although it sounds like your doing better. I was on clear liquids for the first week. I loved popsicles at the beginning especially but I still like them now too. Another thing that helped me besides siping frequently on fluids and staying hydrated was walking. You need to be walking frequently too. It really will help you feel better. They had me walking as soon as I was fully awake and at the beginning I was vomiting. It took at least an hour to stop. So the nurses in between attakes had me up walking and in the end I was greatful because it helped me feel better. I recommend you get up and make some laps around your house at least every hour while your awake. Good luck!! You can do this!! It gets a lot better the second week!!
