    Default Fell of the wagon

I had my sleeve surgery back in august. I have lost 44 pounds but have gained back 2 pounds. I have started eating popcorn and cookies and having a soda once in a while. I know I must stop these things but its hard to give them up again. Need some positive and encouraging post please. I'm just so upset about all of this.

Get back on the wagon! Do it for you, and think about how great you'll feel if you start losing again.

Keep fighting the good fight! Remember, you want to be loser in this thing!

2 pounds isn't worth worrying about! You can lose that by just cutting out the junk! (I wouldn't call 2 pounds falling off the wagon, you are on top of this.)

You can do it! Just say NO to popcorn and cookies and SODA. 2 lbs. isn't that much, BUT it can lead to 5 lbs, 10 lbs and then it will be so much more difficult to get back in the swing of things.

There are other snacks out there, is you want to snack on something. I will occasionally eat a mozzarella string cheese if I want something, and my DIET cran-pineapple juice (Ocean Spray) if I want something sweet to drink.

    You CAN do this!

Think back to your original reason why you had the surgery. What has changed since then?

For me, aside from being healthier, I wanted to be an active and involved grandparent. I am still working on the all of them trying to get better.

Can you identify the things you want to live for and focus on them? Would seeing a therapist be an answer? Find out why you are slipping.

    To OP,

Sounds like you need a detox. I had a similar problem immediately after Christmas, just started craving doughy sugary things intensively!!!

I personally like the Master Cleanse, and have never done more than a week in the past. I did it for 3 days in January and it really helped me to nip cravings in the bud. Others here might not agree, but it is what worked for me. I went back to basics which included tracking macros as well as micronutrients! I cooked or prepared all my meals for several weeks, before I went out to eat at a restaurant. If a food had little nutrient value it was not on the menu. Change is never easy, but imperative to our lifelong success.

Make sure if you do a Detox cleanse you have lots of filtered water on hand. I personally believe in the benefits of Alkaline water.

    Ps...

I echo what Greg said. I try to stay cognizant of the reasons I chose this WLS path when everything else failed for me.

In addition, I have posted these affirmations on my fridge to remind me to stay present:

    1. Use built-in portion control
    2. Eat on schedule
    3. Eat with Intention and not mindlessly
    4. Enjoy every bite
    5. If hunger/eating urges occur ask yourself when you ate last, have water or unsweetened tea or coffee
    6. Find a distraction
    7. Stay active, keep body moving
    8. Make time for self-care
    9. Take multivitamins with breakfast and probiotic supplements before lunch, and calcium before bed
    10. Look in the mirror at least twice a day and SMILE!
    Reason: Ps...

You have to decide you're worth it and go back to basics. Do something now and don't let that 2 become 22 or worse. Did you hit goal? I'm just curious about your weight loss and ticker. I know giving up the junk is hard but so worth it when you get results. My surgeon and nut were very explicit about not drinking soda. I used to be addicted to diet soda and I don't drink any soda now. Remember to fill up on protein and veggies first. Good luck.

So you lost 44 pounds in 10 months post-op. That's not much for 10 months. My guess (completely a guess) is that you've been grazing for a while, and it's finally caught up with you.

    My advice:

    1. Weigh every morning.
    2. Get ALL the crap out of your house.
    3. Don't buy anymore crap.
    4. Eat 3 meals a day.
    5. Plan your meals, getting in 80-100 grams of protein a day.
    6. Eat lots of colored vegetables.
    7. Cut down on other carbs, eating only a small amount of whole grains.
    8. Drink at least 64 ounces a day of water.
    9. Take your multi-vitamin and other supplements and antacid pills daily.
    10. Walk 3 miles a day.

Do this for a month. Then see if you aren't back on the straight and narrow, feeling great and losing weight again.

Keep doing that until you reach goal.

    Best wishes.
