    Default Branched Chain Amino Acid

Hoping someone can help me, again. My doctor wants me to have Branched chain amino acids protein due to cirrhosis of the liver. I have researched on line and I find myself overwhelmed. Does anyone have any suggestions for a product that does not taste bad? Thank you, I appreciate any help!!

I tried that one "Now Foods, Sports, Whey Protein Isolate, Powder, Natural Unflavored". Not too bad, I made it with almond milk, organic cocoa and PB2 or even coffee, in a blender with ice.
But at that time I was having issues with whey (and milk) so I didn't take it very long. But the taste of the powder is not strong. Try not to stock up in case you don't like it...good luck!

Thank you Sandra3. My research did indicate the "Now" product but the reviews said it tasted bad. I can try almond milk with it. Whey products do not do well with my digestive system. Thank you again for the advice!

BCAA by itself (unflavored) added to water, tastes pretty good (well doesn't taste bad). They also have flavored ones at GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, etc. I would try to get it at a retail store until you find one you like so that it is easier to return if you can't stand the taste.

I take BCAAs before my weight training workouts. They all taste terrible. All brands. You are not going to find a brand that tastes tolerable because, by nature, BCAAs are bitter.

The bitter BCAA undertaste can be masked if you mix it with a sweet drink such as Crystal Light or diet Ocean Spray (sugar free) cranberry juice.

Then again, there's always the option of taking your BCAAs in capsule form rather than in a drink.

    Hi,

Garden of Life RAW Fit High Protein for Weightloss has naturally occurring branched chain amino acids, which derives from vegan protein. I used the plain one post op and took me a minute to get used to graininess, but once I started using almond milk to mix it was delicious! I still buy when on sale at Sprouts Market. I also love the Coffee flavor one.

Run this by your doctor to see if it will meet his criteria:

    M2: 203 (-8.3)
    M3: 196.5 (-6.5)

    M5: 186.3 (-5.2)

I was using the organic version but got sick anyway. If whey is an issue for you (like for me, I have IBS), you might want to try soy, it's the closest to whey. I tried a few but didn't like it that much. The only good point was it was cheap!
The one I used for a few weeks "Vitacost Soy Protein Isolate Protein Powder Natural Vanilla ".
But I wouldn't use soy everyday on the long run, because of it's effect on hormones.

After reading about it, it sounds better for you than the whey protein. Maybe your doctor is on to something! Sounds pretty new, or maybe just not that well known? Good luck to you!
