    Default Primary Care Physician

Went to my PCP today. Finally able to lower my BP medication in half!! Yay!! My PCP also was going on about how proud of me he was for me taking this journey, taking it seriously, losing weight, following my surgeon's orders, and more. I know some PCP's are anti WLS but mine is the opposite. He is very supportive and wants what is best for my heath. I only sought a PCP because my surgeon had told me that I needed to get my BP in check in order to avoid the anesthesiologist cancelling my surgery for my BP being too high. (I had come from overseas where I was always assigned one on base so it was foreign to me to seek one out. I had been in Texas 2 years without one. Dumb, I know.) My PCP has pretty high hopes that I may be able to come off completely come September. I am honestly surprised at the fact that I am still on them as I have lost so much weight. And I monitor it at home and am still having a higher diastolic even with the meds. I can range between 76-89. We all know 80 and under is ideal. And like I said, that is WITH medication. Fingers crossed!

Gosh! I get scared when my BP is 120/75 because it is always lower than that, but lately it has been 98/68 or similar... that also worries me.

Your body might need time to adjust to the new weight. But I have a friend who's been always really slim (size 0 in her 50's) and she's on medication because it does run in her family. So you will know in a few months if it's linked to the weight or not. But half less medication is already a really good sign. Crossing my fingers for you!
