Hi I'm 3 weeks post surgery and in desperate need in hearing what people eat at this point and what they could tolerate....I feel like I'm eating too much and my stomach too big
I was still on full liquids at 3 weeks. I was able to drink 64+ ounces by day 5 postop. Transitioned to purees about then, but could only fit in a couple tablespoons every few hours. Soft foods at 5 weeks and still, only a couple tablespoons per meal. Everything I consumed was protein based....protein shakes, refried beans, eggs, cheese, Greek yogurt, hummus, pureed tuna fish, tofu, soups and broths with unflavored protein powder added, etc.
Do you have a postop diet plan from your surgeon? If so, you should be following those guideline as far as quantities. Measure if you have to, do not rely on feeling full....that's how we all got fat in the first place. Typically it's no more than 2-4 ounces/meal. I couldn't even come close to 4 ounces until 3-4 months out.
Once I began to eat pureed and then more solid foods, I could always comfortably eat more than the guidelines said I should be able to. When they suggested trying two ounces of something, I could eat four. When they suggested a few bites of a scrambled egg, I could easily eat the whole serving. I could eat a 5.3 oz. serving of Greek yogurt when others would struggle to eat half of that. It was very concerning at first, but the weight has been and is continuing to drop steadily, and my doctor is pleased with my progress. I definitely get a clear signal from my tummy when I am full, and I immediately stop eating. And, the amount of food that I eat is NOWHERE NEAR what I could consume prior to being sleeved!!!! So it would seem that different people can hold different amounts of food, and it's okay. Just listen to your new tummy, and you will be fine.
At 3 weeks, I was still on liquids; so shakes, SF pudding, Yogurt, SF Jello, and SF popsicles. After about a week after surgery, I was able to drink a full 8 oz. protein shake, and was worried that was too much. But, my doctor said it was fine. After you add in more solid food, you will be eating less. Every day can also vary, there are times I eat the same foods, but sometimes I can eat more, and sometimes just a bite or two.
I'm 3 weeks out as well. I'm on pureed foods and sometimes i can eat more than 1/4 cup! I stop when I my stomach says I'm full but I think that is a lot to eat at this point! I feel ya!

At 3 weeks I was on soft/pureed foods. I can tell you I could eat more soft foods than I could solids when I switched to regular diet at 4 weeks. Meat items definitely fill you up faster than soft foods, fried foods, sweets, carbs like bread and chips etc. I doubt you can eat that much unless you are eating slider foods. How much weight have you lost so far? And if you are in a stall....just know everyone goes through it in the beginning...usually around week 3. (Mine was at week 5 and come go earlier and everything in between).
Hello I'm about a month out maybe more like 6 weeks out of surgery and I do feel like I'm eating a lot and I do feel like I have plateaued already but I've spoken to people who say that this is temporary and I should be losing weight faster it's a process and just stay positive and follow the directions
I'm almost four weeks out of surgery (6/5) and have just started soft foods. Right now, I'm having a hard time with anything "too sweet" - which is a lot of stuff. Even SF Jello and Pudding sometimes aren't that great.
I enjoy Fat Free cottage cheese, fat free refried beans (with a little cheese), soft scrambled eggs with cheese, applesauce (sometimes), chocolate Premier Protein shakes, most soups and tuna (light mayo and really finely chopped onion). Obviously this isn't all in one day! Usually I do an egg in the morning (or a shake) and then one of the others as lunch and/or dinner. As well as more shake.
I can't handle more than 1/4 - 1/2 a cup of food at a time, and I tend to "eat" between 2 - 4 times a day, depending on how I'm feeling and what activity I'm doing. But other than that it's trial and error. I know when I've had too much or am getting close. Haven't gotten sick yet.
Sometimes my multi-vitamin upsets my stomach, but it's momentarily and usually goes away.
Good luck on your journey!
