My Latest NSV

We went on vacation this week to the Great Smokey National Park/Gatlinburg area. I kept or set the pace each day. At Dollywood, I was able to ride every coaster without even thinking about fitting in the seat. My son was able to ride too and did not have to ride alone. Really cool for us both. Last time we went two years ago, I could not ride a single coaster-just plain to big.

My brother from Texas was with us also. He lost the same amount of weight as me but was able to do it without the surgery. Together, we hiked to the top of Clingman's Dome. While not that far is a very steep incline. I reached the top and was able to enjoy the entire trek.

Sorry, but what is NSV? I see this a lot and don't know what it stands for...lol

And I'm so glad you had such a great vacation! I bet it felt awesome to do the things you never were able to. I cannot wait for my surgery!

Non-Scale Victory. Basically, it is something you can do now that you could not before and is not dependent on the scale to see progress-even if it is mostly related.

Fitting into a smaller size clothes, riding a coaster that you did not fit into before, complete a hike that previously you would not have tried/or completed, etc.

Your life changes immeasurably. Last week before we left, we saw a friend and her kids-for the first time in six months. One of the girls gave me a hug and was giddy that she could put her arms all the way around me. (another NSV) Nobody short of giants and amazons could get their arms around me. Things around you change but the hardest change is how you relate to the world around you. Once this changes, their is nothing you cannot accomplish. Conquer the mind and there is nothing you will not do.

Way to go Greg!! All my favorite NSV's are all the physical things I am able to do again. I feel unstoppable!! Congrats on your NSV!!

I'm back on this site after being gone for a while...I haven't been doing the right things and have seen proof on the scale. I am now down 12 olbs in one week and I am BACK ON TRACK!! I WILL hit my goal this year.

We are both so close. I never would have expected that less than a year out would see such differences. Never before this have I gone on vacation and not gained at least a few pounds. I ate horribly while I was out and yet I maintained. Back to the eating norms and exercise routines. I like my routine. I do well when I have a routine and purpose, otherwise I can be as lazy as possible.

Fantastic testimony! I'm so glad for you and your brother. It's so new and exciting and sometimes scary to see all the changes that weight loss can bring. But the best thing is being able to fit into everyday things and do anything a healthy person can do. That's the true reward. All the best my friend to you and your achievements! May there be many more to come!

Thanks Laura. it is the small things that continue to amaze me. Anne was looking at me the other morning and said "OMG! You have ribs." Of course I have ribs but now I/we see them.

I was always a big coaster guy then I became a really big guy and not the coaster guy. My back now objects to the older wooden coasters but I can replace them with the newer smooth steel coasters.
