    Default Dizzy Spells

Does anyone get them???? I am 3 months post-op & get an occasional dizzy spell. I'm going to give my surgeon a call. It doesn't happen that often but enough to where I noticed.

I am not regular with my vitamins. I know I should be but sometimes I get busy & forget to take them.

I read in most cases this can be caused by a leak but at 3 months out it must be something else. Because it doesn't happen all the time.

Someone mentioned a drop in blood pressure on another thread.

I'm wondering if it could be insufficient protein. I don't like protein shakes & don't drink them.

    Any suggestions???

    Lorna

I've had spells where I feel dizzy too, I think it could be a drop in blood pressure because it's been after I have laid down for awhile. If it were a leak you would know it, they say it is very painful after you eat something everytime.

    Google : Orthostatic hypotension

I was diagnosed with it around 8-9 months post VSG, and it was because I had dropped over 130lbs, and my body was trying to adjust. Plus, I had cut sodium to avoid water weight. I had to increase my fluid intake, and get my sodium back to normal levels (1500-2500mg) per day. For me, it happened when I got up from a lying down, or reclined position too quickly, or if I bent over at the waist and bounced up too quickly. Increased activity, fluids, and sodium all helped. I still have "spells", but they are not nearly as frequent as they were.

You could be deficient in iron, or other vitamins if you aren't taking them regularly, and definitely if you are not getting in proper nutrients.

I never used protein shakes, and got all my protein from food sources. Meat, cheese and eggs were staples in my diet, and had zero issue getting my 60gr of protein from those sources.

Hopefully, your surgeon can get you in for some labs if you haven't had any pulled lately.

Get your blood sugar checked as well. I get dizzy spells if my sugar levels are low. I have fairly low blood pressure normally.

I find this is happening to me too. After I have been sitting or lying down and get up fairly quickly. My legs are weak too for a few seconds. I wasn't sure what was causing it but my body is doing a lot of different things since surgery so I just thought this was one more.

I get some dizziness but more than that I am severely tired. It has been four weeks since surgery and I had to leave work at noon today because of exhaustion. This was my first week back. Sounds like BP or sugar problems more like BP.
