How much walking/how soon post-surgery?

So we all walked, walked, walked the halls...slowly, painfully following surgery.

I'm coming up to my 1 week surgiversary...been walking just around the block with my Fit Bit. 1500 steps, 2800 steps...today I walked twice and got caught dashing through a rainstorm--so abut more exercise than planned. But did 6400 steps--3 miles. THAT was a bit too much.

I'm hurting quite a bit this evening. Don't plan on doing gym for a couple weeks.

But curious. What was everyone's first-week or 2 home with the walking?

Like you, I walked those halls more times than I could count. I’m now 13 days post and have walked a little over a mile yesterday and again today. I’m not sure how many steps that is. Some things to keep you sane and on track: Like you, I still want to compare myself and my progress to everyone else, but it’s not necessarily a good practice or healthy. Simply focus on how much you improve and how great you feel. Compare you only to the former you. You got this, Girl!

I was only 1-2 miles while still on post op liquid--still too weak to get much more.

But I've been on puréed diet for a week, have energy... and I finally have my friend lined up to walk three times a week and walked a corridor walking path at the hospital I work at---so I got in 5 miles today!! I'm so excited to finally have energy for it!

We are all different, do what you can do and work up slowly. I haven't run since an accident almost 4 months ago (I have gotten back to walking), and just thought I'd go out for a run the other day. Yesterday I could hardly walk! So baby steps! Too much too soon you will hurt!
