I'm Kristy, -- K. for short.
born and raised in Southern California. I was recently approved for the gastric sleeve surgery. I'm just waiting to hear from the Nurse on the dates. So any day now. I was searching google trying to find a place to talk to others going through what i'm about to go through. a support system. My friends, family are supportive of me getting the surgery and getting the weight off, but they tend to say stupid things that make me feel like they just don't get it.

Welcome K! This surgery is an amazing gift. Just read as much as you can between now and your surgery to know what you can possibly expect. Have a good plan. Did your surgeon give you good pre op and post op diet instructions? Every surgeon has different pre/post op rules. I also loved the information on -------> http://www.obesitycoverage.com/gastr...erence-manual/ Also highly recommend that you take some starting point pictures (with as little on as possible-then keep taking the pics in the same outfit. I used bra and panties.) and measurements. Then start taking additional pictures and measurements every 2 weeks. They are much better of a measure of what your body is doing versus weight loss alone.

I have a lot of weight to loose and worried that the surgery won't work for me. I guess thats a natural fear? idk.
I have been big since i was little, 2 yrs old. since i can remember. I just want the weight to melt off, but i do realize i will
have to help it along. Thanks for the info, I haven't gotten my plan yet, I meet with the surgeon again in June. waiting on
the insurance and now waiting for the dates, has taken forever.

I told no one (except my husband and children) pre op because of the silly things people say. They don't mean to upset you, but they haven't got the knowledge of your situation, or this procedure to comment. Since my surgery, I have told people about the process because I have come to realize that it is the same as ANY medical intervention. Absolutely necessary for me to live a healthy lifestyle. I'm getting a knee replacement in September, but of course, no one even questions THAT procedure. Good luck on your journey!

I'm just scared it won't work for me, I guess its just a fear that I have because i have always been big, and no diet or program ever worked out for me. Hoping its different this time.
