Surgery day for me 24 May 17
Very nervous
Hi Paul! What has you nervous? My suggestion is to read as much about what people experienced post op on this forum. It will ease your mind a bit. Also, I liked the information on this site-------> http://www.obesitycoverage.com/gastr...erence-manual/ Good luck with your surgery!
Hi Paul, I ditto Christi's message. The Sleeve Surgery was way easier than I thought it would be. Only difficulty was transitioning from full liquids to purée food on week 4. I really liked my doctors diet schedule. IV fluids and meds first 2 days. Second day started clear liquids, 2 week full liquids with 1 protein drink a day. 3rd week cream sounds and full liquids, 4th week purée or soft food. Do your research and ask questions. Being nervous is normal. Good luck with your journey
Hi Tamera,
My surgeon has me straight on pureed foods for 4 weeks. Won't be able to leave the hospital until I can. I'm definitely ready to go with it. Here in the UK if you have been referred by your GP the surgery is free. It's taken me 2 years to get to this point. I had to delay 1st time around due to work commitments. My partner said I had to go through the NHS route (free healthcare system) so I can have support post op. I suggested that I went to Prague, Czech Republic for it and be done in a matter of weeks, but she was to be obeyed ;-) WIth the 2 year wait, I have done loads of research into the operation, spoken in depth to a family friend who is a GP and read tons of books. I know everything there is to know about it... Just the nerves are starting to get me now.
We were all nervous before surgery, but I can tell you it is so worth it! Nothing better than being a regular-sized person!
Best of luck to you.
Haha, I was nervous! I spent the last 1/2 hour before going in giving my husband all the passwords on the computer! I, too, had never been under general anesthesia and didn't know what to expect, so that was nerve-wracking. I was in the hospital for 2 days (and nights) and then home with my husband who was there to take care of me, but there's not much "care" involved. You need to be up moving around and drinking fluids. I had pain which was managed while in the hospital, but really nothing much once I got home. Good luck!
UGH! So sorry. I hope you get resolution soon. Don't get down with the setback, it will happen all in due time. Continue to concentrate on your health.
