My surgeon does a procedure called ReShape and it says this about it: With ReShape, two balloons filled with saline (salt water) are placed temporarily inside your stomach to help you feel less hungry, so you feel satisfied with smaller portions. The balloons are a weight loss jump-start and are only part of the procedure. You also receive a full year of personalized coaching to support your success and help you make the changes that will encourage a lifetime of healthy living.

He also does another thing that is a ring that goes around the stomach to stop acid reflux. Its called : The LINX System is a small flexible band of interlinked titanium beads with magnetic cores. The magnetic attraction between the beads is intended to help the LES resist opening to gastric pressures, preventing reflux from the stomach into the esophagus. LINX is designed so that swallowing forces temporarily break the magnetic bond, allowing food and liquid to pass normally into the stomach. Magnetic attraction of the device is designed to close the LES immediately after swallowing, restoring the body's natural barrier to reflux.

Maybe you could find someone who performs these near you. I hope it helps!

I have heard horrible things about the balloons. First of all, it is temporary because as soon as they remove the balloons your stomach is still the same size it was. Secondly, foods get stuck to them and you have to use coca cola to "clean" the balloons off. I did some research on them and I would not recommend the balloons at all.

Sorry you're going through this. I'll just add my anecdotal story to the mix. I did not have any reflux before surgery. I have it horribly now. I cannot come off of the prescription medications. I'm already on the borderline of underweight, so I haven't even considered switching to bypass to cure it. My mother, however, had severe reflux prior to sleeve surgery. Wouldn't you know it, she has no symptoms of it now. Her doctor will not let her come off of her medications for it saying that she does still have it, but she certainly isn't feeling it like she did prior to surgery. It's such a gamble, you just never know how it's going to turn out for each individual. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do.
