Default I got my surgery date!

June 12th, 2017! I am excited, yet very nervous. I have spent my time stocking up on vitamins and buying necessities like protein powder, a magic bullet and blender bottles. I start my 2 week liver shrinking diet on Memorial Day . I am most nervous about the diet, and being "Hangry" the whole time. I still have pre-op visits to do, but other than that I am just preparing.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Any easy blender bottle or magic bullet, protein shake recipes who be awesome!

Congratulations on getting your surgery date!

Are you allowed to eat veggies on your 2 week pre-op diet, or is it just liquids only? I was allowed to eat any vegetable, as long as it wasn't a "starchy" vegetable (no beans, potatoes, peas, or corn). I had salads, made vegetable soups, and honestly didn't really fee like I was starving. The first day was a little rough, but it wasn't awful. Oh, I was also allowed to have a scrambled egg (just egg, no milk), so I made a veggie omlette (no cheese).

Congradulations! So exciting. I have my surgery next Tuesday. I'm the same..nervous, excited and thrilled! I just have to do a clear liquid diet starting sunday and take magnesium citrate to clean my system. Ihave done the same and made a ton of chicken bone broth for my new life after surgery.

All surgeons are different. Mine was 2 weeks of protein shakes, broth, water and sugar free gelatin and sugar free popsicles. First few days are the toughest and then it gets easier. Best of luck to you! You can do it!

Congratulations on your date. Yes Tommy, ALL surgeons are different. I had someone who was as strict as they come. My diet was 10 days of drinking clear liquids (2 isopure clear protein drinks a day) with some clear bone broth. I never want to see those things again.

    Congrats on setting a date

I am on week 2 of pre op diet and had to start it while on a business trip to Germany. Imagine walking through the Ubahn stations with the smell of schnitzel and struedel

My surgeon provides you with a special protein shake in a huge container that I packed in my luggage. It turns out that customs opened it

For my pre op you get to have 2 shakes as replacement meals then one meal with 4 oz protein and 1/2 c non starchy veggies. Sugar free popsicles and jello are also allowed but I stayed away from them thinking I'll save those for post op. And they also provide special vitamins plus the recommended Coq10 supplements. Not too bad. Yes you do get hungry but I found that drinking water (sipping not gulping... good practice for future) with propel packets really helped stave of hunger.

Honestly it felt like a switch went off in my head that Monday morning I started like I am gonna do this come hell or high water! (True confessions the night before I ordered room service and had myself a food funeral that included bread and butter with wine...)

Wishing you all the best on this new journey,
    J.
