Default Anyone preparing for July surgery? A little about me....

I am preparing for my surgery in July and looking for others on the same path. I am having my sleeve done in Mexico so my pre-op consists of 5 days prior. It is my desire to start healthy habits now in preparation but I have to be honest that so far I have failed. I am not a water drinker... and it was obviously not my stellar healthy lifestyle that brought me to my 75 pounds of excess weight. I'm scared. I'm looking around on the site here and have pieced together that my game plan should be:

    * I need to be getting in 30 minutes of walking outside or on my treadmill
    * I need to start taking vitamins
    * I need to make myself drink water (64 oz/day)
    * I need to start eating lean meats and veggies

Am I missing anything? I am going to get my measurements/weight today, surgery day and then follow it from there... monthly. ( with bathing suit pic). I put on another post that I bought a bikini 3-4 years ago and it has been in my closet ever since. I think it would be appropriate to use it for my pictures! I could never wear it... But it kept the dream alive to take back my life and get healthy.

I should have probably put this in the introduction, but I have been married for 14 years, 17 years ago my husband and I started the process of blending our 5 children. Since that time... Like every family, we have had our ups and downs, but here we are 17 years later with our 5 children, a daughter in law, a son in law, 1 grandson, 2 granddaughters and 1 on the way ... This week! I work full time and my husband is a firefighter. He also does construction on his off days so he is gone a lot. We are also raising our grandson right now .... So my life is basically nuts! I have been there for everyone and lost myself in the process. I can't tell you how excited I am for this opportunity to reclaim my life! I turned 50 last year and felt so BLAH.... I knew I had to do something, I just did not know what.

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to share and update your progress! You are my lifeline right now and I appreciate your support so much!!!!

Welcome to the group and congratulations for taking control. It's never too late. I'm 57 and have finally taken control. I have a long way to go but I'm way ahead more than I have ever been. You have successfully blended a family and made it work, you can do this!

The first step in change is deciding to make that change! Way to go. My surgery is scheduled for may 23. I started my change in 0ct 2016. I was a diet coke junkie for like 20 years! I gave it up cold turkey and started drinking water. Changed the way I ate and downloaded apps to help me keep track of caloric intake and exercise. I started walking. I have chronic back pain so I am working up to walking farther but I keep moving. My goal for weight loss before surgery was 10 pound but I have lost 45 pounds in 7 months.
I guess what I'm saying is be fully committed in your life style change before surgery and it will be easier after your surgery. I'm so excited for mine! best of luck!!!

The only thing missing Gigi is finding a protein shake you enjoy. I recommend starting with shakes you can get premade or individual packets because you may buy a big bag (which is costly) and not like it. I also say that along with your pics you should take your measurements. Other than that, everything sounds right on track. Also, if you would like, I have some great nutrition paperwork from my nutritionist that I can send you. Just PM your email if you want me to send it to you.
