    Default Quick question!

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows about how much extra it costs for surgeons to fix hiatal hernia during sleeve? Do they usually charge something extra for that? (I am self pay)

Also wondering if there is a way to figure out what your chances are of having a gallbladder attack after surgery? I'm sure emergency surgery to have your gallbladder removed would be extremely expensive with no insurance. Does the gallbladder ultra sound before surgery help to determine the chances of this happening?

I had my hernia repaired with my sleeve and it did not cost me extra but that could vary by surgeon. As for the gall bladder, I don't know what the statistics are for that. I am 6 months post op and had no gall bladder issues. Good luck!

I remember hearing or reading somewhere it's about a 25% chance for us to have to have our galbladdets out after having this surgery. Not sure if what I read was correct.

Any rapid weight loss can result in gallstones. No way to predict if it will happen or not. Despite a family history of gallbladder issues I chose not to have my gallbladder taken out at the time of my VSG. It would have cost me $500. Turned out to be a poor choice. Despite taking Ursodial, which is supposed to prevent gallstones, I had my first attack at 8 months postop. THE MOST PAINFUL THING I've ever experienced, other than the other 3 attacks I had over the next 14 months (And I broke my back and have had my neck fused). Finally had my gallbladder and 11 stones removed at 23 months list VSG. Cost me $6000....that's my deductible....and the asshat surgeon left me with an incisional hernia that will cost another $6000 to repair. In the meantime I just keep pushing my insides back into the hole.

So yeah, that original $500 would have been money well spent.

Wow Kindle, that really sucks! Thanks for the info. If it's not too much more and he says he can do it, I think I'll have it removed. He's already fixing a large hiatal hernia while he's in there though, so maybe it's too much for one surgery. Your incisional hernia he should fix for free seeing how it was caused by him. That sounds like a pain to live with!

My surgeon repaired my hernia during my sleeve surgery for no extra fee. I lost my gall bladder years ago so that wasn't an issue.
