Appointment on Monday

Ok guys,

My appointment is on Monday. This is where they will schedule me for all my pre-op tests that need to be done and I will talk with the Dr. I'm super excited and nervous. I have also been thinking I'm going to talk to him about removing my gallbladder during surgery. I've read that those that still have their gallbladder after they have the sleeve tend to get a lot of acid reflux as that is the cause. Anyone else hear that?

I'm so proud of myself for making this decision and am very happy I found this group to help support me through this process!

Good luck with your appointment, it's a very exciting time! I have read that other people have had their gall bladders out, but since that was not my experience, I can't comment on it. Your surgeon will have his/her own ideas.

I have not heard the relation between your gallbladder and reflux I have however heard that a good amount of people down the road after a sleeve surgery end up with gallstones.

Good luck with your appointment. My dad had gastric bypass back in 89 and they removed his gall bladder as well.

Bummed, they called this morning to change my appointment. The dr's educational nurse, which is who I also had to see today, called in sick. So now, I go this Thursday. I guess it's only a few more days though. Still excited!

good luck... regarding gall bladder removal.... I would not mess with it if it is healthy... sometimes ppl need them out after... sometimes not... u shouldn't remove it if it is healthy...

I got my gallbladder removed almost a year before my sleeve surgery. I still had problems with heartburn and reflux the first couple months after vsg, finally not getting it very often and I'm 6 months post op with vsg.
