So, I'm only losing about 5 pounds a month, since I got out of the hospital the last time. Is this normal? I know my body is shrinking up in size, I can see it. Somehow I just thought it would be more...
I, of course, can't tell you what is 'normal' for you. I will say that I think your body has been through a RIDICULOUS amount of trauma since January and is likely going to be non-typical in weight loss.
Best things you can do:
Get 75 grams of protein or more each day, from lean sources
Drink half of your weight (but in ounces) in liquids every day
Walk or get as much activity as you can each day
Wait.
Considering what all your body has been through, just be patient with yourself and with your body; give it all the support you can through good nutrition etc.
Hang in there Lisa.
I always find it hard to look at other peoples weight loss and judge how I think they are doing because I usually don't have all the info like height, age ect.
To me as long as you can see a difference then your doing great because if you can see it you can bet others see it even more.
Lisa, you have lost 55 pounds in 113 days. That is 1 pound every two days. That is awesome. If you think logically about weight loss, 3500 calories equals one pound. If you consume 1000 calories a day and you burn 2200 calories a day your net loss should be 1 pound every three days. You are ahead of the game.
Your weight loss will slow as you gain muscle at the gym too. So keep shrinking and don't worry about the actual weight. Once you reach a good level of muscle, you burn more fat because lean muscle burns more calories so your resting metabolic rate will be higher.
Everyone loses at different rates. As long as you're losing I wouldn't be too worried. The closer your body gets to a healthy weight the more your weight loss will slow. You'll get there. Any time I started to slow down I'd up my protein and it'd help. Now I'm so close to goal I'm only losing a pound every 9 or 10 days.
