A few days before surgery (4/5/17), my seasonal allergies kicked in. Sniffling, sneezing, congestion. On surgery day, I developed a raspy voice (before I was intubated), and a cough. The cough is terrible and feels sometimes like I have tiny marbles in my lungs, but the absolute worst is the fact that my congestion is so bad that I can't smell a darn thing. My sense of smell has always been my lame-o superpower, so to not be able to smell ANYTHING whatsoever, I feel like Superman with Kryptonite. It's so bad that I can't taste any of my mushy food. My allergy medicine doesn't help at all, and after 3 weeks of this, I'm starting to wonder if it's really just allergies. Fortunately, I have my 3-week post-op appointment tomorrow, so I'll ask the surgeon about it.
