    Default Hello from Blazing Arizona

Hello everyone, I'm Lisa from AZ, how are you guys doing?

I'm stressing about my surgery! Ha! I know I shouldn't but at the same time I'm told I should.

It's a huge step, not just for me, but for anyone who does it.

I've been heavy since I was 20. I'm 38 now. I went on an optifast diet when I was 30 and was hugely successful. However, I lost my job and my willpower and said "&#$% it." and I gained it all back.

I'm 6 days from my surgery, getting antsy from having to do this liquid diet thing. I almost cheated yesterday, I was soooo upset. BUT I'm being strong and realizing that there are much more difficult things to do in the world and I shouldn't be a baby. I got this!

Anyhow. Drop me a line, add me as a friend, say hello, whatever. I'm all for making new friends!

goodnight ladies and gents. I hope you have a healthy week!

Your nerves are natural, you are about to make a tremendous change and you have no real idea what life holds. you may have read about how people do pre and post-op but ultimately you don't know what you can expect.

If anything else this next week, keep your mind busy and go to bed early. If you can do these, the time will fly by and you will do well on your journey.

That's some really good advice. I think I will go to sleep early.

you know what really sucks, is that I had a camping trip planned for this weekend with my friends... so the 2 days before my surgery, I'll be camping. What was always the best part about camping for me? Dogs and Smores. Uhg! Gonna be more like "the scenery and the hikes!" oh yeah and we're totally gonna play board games too. It won't all be bad I'm just going to be jealous of the campfire snacks.

I am camping next weekend, so I get your angst. This is my first time since surgery so I will have to make sure I stay true. At least you will get out of the house but you better stay hydrated in Arizona. You cant go into surgery on a deficit.

Hi Lisa and welcome to the forum! I had my surgery about a month ago and I was so terrified and unsure. It's a common reaction to the upcoming surgery and nearly everyone here in the forum have been there and felt that, so you're in company. As the days tick away, keep posting, ask questions, take deep breaths, try to divert your thoughts to something else, and pat yourself on the back for being brave and making a positive change for your health. You've got this, gurl! All the best!

The surgery is life changing. Make sure that you work both your body and mind post op. Have to change the behaviors that got us here in the first place. While the sleeve is a tool that makes it easier....it is still a tool and only useful if used properly! I can honestly say I have no regrets other than waiting so long to do it. And it is normal to be antsy. It is surgery. Good luck and welcome!

My surgery went really well, no complications. I stayed in the hospital 2 nights, I'm writing from the hospital right now. Hopefully I'll be discharged this afternoon.

I found an app called baritastic that has given me the ability to set a schedule for food vs protein shake vs water. I'll see how helpful it is tomorrow!
