Hello everyone, I've been on this site viewing others procedures and I had mine on 3/9/17. I was so scared to go thru that but it hasn't been at all half as bad as I had expected. The only part I hated was crushing of the pills. I already take about 6 pills daily and so after the vitamins and having to crush them, it was awful. Thought I'd save money and buy the ones you just take. Believe as soon as I could, I opted for the chewable vitamins. It was well worth the extra few bucks
I had to go thru several procedures before I could even get the surgery. I had to see a psychiatrist, a cardiologist, and get blood work done and a clearance from my primary doctor. Things were just not falling into place , the cardiologist found (of course) a blockage so he had to do a artery clearance. On the operating table, he found out that I didn't need it after all and that the blockage was now working because my body automatically healed itself by making another bypass.
After that was cleared, I scheduled my surgery but before that, the insurance company was giving me problems. Finally I was approved and things were set to go.
I weighed in at 260 lbs and the day of surgery, I didn't lose anything. I was really frustrated. this is week 6 and up to date I'm down 222.4 lbs. I have gone thru plateau's and I don't like them at all.
When I started eating solid foods again, I felt like it was all worth it.
The protein shakes weren't that bad when you could add banana or strawberry's to it. The Whey, super advanced protein powder is the best. They have different kinds, vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, and chocolate peanut butter. I have had one specific problem though, I don't know if anybody else has experienced this or not, but I have been so constipated, it has actually been like rocks. I've had to use Enema's and stool softners. The only thing that works, is dulcolax laxatives, and they don't want you to do laxatives so close to the surgery date.
I couldn't help it because my stomach was hurting so bad and I knew I had to go. I was so afraid of a blockage in my intestines.
After surgery they of course did a biopsy on your stomach they took out and it seems that I had a bacteria infection in mine. So, I had to go and see a gastrologist to get antibiotics. I finished my last pill today so hopefully its gone.
I have found its very easy to eat salads. I love salads for one, and I can put meat and all kinds of stuff in there. I have italian ices for a snack at night time.
My journey has just begun, I just recently got married, (3rd marriage) and I am starting a whole new beginning.
Thanks for reading my journal and hope to get back soon. Any questions I can answer, I'll ge back to you.
