    Default New Here and Lost

    Hi all,

I just stumbled across this message board and thought I'd post. I'm not sure if I'm in the right spot, but in a nutshell, I had the Gastric Sleeve in August 2015. I did great in the beginning, but now I'm only down about 30 pounds. I've lost my enthusiasm. Not to be a downer, but my boyfriend committed suicide shortly after my procedure, and I've been off track ever since. My gastric sleeve doctor labeled me a failure and basically said peace out. I see a psychiatrist and psychologist (I know I sound like a crazy person). I just read bout the sleeve reset and I'm going to give it a whirl. I was curious if anyone else has had setbacks and what they did to overcome them? I want to be happy, but it feels like I'm climbing a mountain. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Well your already taken the biggest step which is therapy. Do a pouch reset more experienced people on here can tell you about it. With the proper therapy and a comment to doing the reset and getting back to high protein low sugar, fat and carbs you'll become successful again I'm sure.

Welcome Krisan. I am sorry about your loss. That must have been very hard to go through. Wish I could give you a big hug. Yes. Plenty of people stumble and backslide. I have heard great things about the pouch reset. I think going back to basics is crucial. http://www.obesitycoverage.com/the-p...weight-regain/ <---I think that website has some amazing information. You can do this!! Good luck!

Krisan, I am sorry to read about your loss. I think you naturally suffered a setback, anybody could under those circumstances. you are likely on the right track talking with your therapy team to get through the pain part of your recovery. Starting with a new nutritionist team will help you reach your goal of getting control of your health and restarting your journey. There is a group that could help you on facebook called My Bariatric Kitchen. t is a closed group that you have to request joining. The leader could help you with your nutrition reset-for a fee but she is very good.

This has always been a mountain of journey don't be down on your self, instead cherish in the journey you have already made.

Welcome to the forum. There are so many wonderful people here that are kind, helpful, and encouraging - you've found a safe harbor. You've been through the wringer and have come out the other side and you're now ready to focus on your health - you're already winning. There are people here that have stumbled and all are re-educating themselves and most do the 5 day diet-reset. Getting therapy is a wonderful gift that more people should try - good for you!

I sounds like you're on the right path to making yourself healthier and that's admirable. I find many people in this forum inspiring and I have to add you to my list. You're a survivor, you are strong, and you will succeed! All the best!

Personally, I think the pouch thingie is a load of crap....but....that's just me. The pouch reset is nothing more than a diet and we all suck at diets. The effects of the "reset" are not permanent and, again, dubious.

You have most definitely been through the ringer. My condolences for your loss. Having said that, the best therapy is self help. When you make a plan, work the plan, own the results, and change as needed, you will have the confidence that comes from self empowerment. That's very powerful.

If you would like some help getting back on track, I would be more than happy to chip in my two cents worth. I've been at goal weight for almost four years now and I really feel like I've got this maintenance thing down pat. Reach out via pm and let's see what can be done to get you back to being a great big loser!!

    Robert
