    Default Hello, i am Deserae

I have my first app. with a surgical DR. on 04.24.2017 and I was also told that I have to take classes for six months (dietitian therapy) ($20 Per class) . My thing is, after I have my appointment, should I just throw all of my food out (well give it away ) . I have tons of vegan food such as chips and salsa , (vegan) pasta , rice beans (all kinds) frozen fruit, raw fruit , raw veggies , starch veggies, such as potatoes etc. Vegan bread, vegan cheese . My thing is I'm confused, should I not throw it all out , and just eat them in moderation or what I'm confused. I am assuming my Op date will be towards the end of October 2017. Wish me luck. Feel free to contact me on my DM on all social media same screen name /vegmuffin

I recommend seeing what they say at your first appointment. Are you going through insurance? So all insurance has very specific requirements. Your surgeon will go over the requirements for your insurance. That will determine what you need to do. In my case, my insurance had 6 months of supervised nutrition/obesity management. I could not go under 40 BMI or I would lose eligibility. I started at 41.8 BMI so I had to be very careful. I also could not gain any weight during the 6 months. I literally had a 10 lb cushion. So you need to see what your requirements are. Good luck!

You are at the beginning of a very long trip. Don't be hasty, wean yourself off the carbs and sugars. You can start now but take small steps. Eat the same except replace a meal a couple of times a week with a protein shake, Every four or five weeks take another step like replace the remaining breakfasts during the week with a shake. The a couple of lunches per week with all your breakfasts being replaced. Then a couple more lunches. And again until all breakfasts and lunches are replaced then start changing your dinners to be lean proteins and veggies.

Start your nutrition meetings and listen to the team that will lead you.
