    Default My Scale Finally Moved!

16 days out from surgery, lost 13 lbs by the third day following surgery, then nothing. I swore I wouldn't weigh myself again for a week.... but did, and after seeing nothing, swore off again not to do it until my one month post op visit. (In the meantime though my measurements have shrunk considerably and dropped several sizes in clothing). I ordered a new digital scale that analyzes your water weight, BMI, bone density and it arrived Friday. I programmed it and, what else, weighed myself Friday and still no drop in weight. I weighed myself this morning and TAH-DAH.... 2.5 pounds down!
I got a little more water in me yesterday, drank my 2 bottles of premier protein chocolate shakes, had 1 scrambled egg for breakfast (only ate half, saved the rest for a couple hours later), had a few bites of tender chicken pulverized to next to nothing and a couple tastes of mushed up sweet potato. Maybe that triggered something? And still walking over 2 miles a day.
What ever made that scale moved, I am ecstatic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The scale is GoWiseUSA. I really like it. (Off Amazon.) I just messed around with the other bells and whistles on it a few minutes ago and I did pretty well. (I actually should have taken the readings this morning when I first got up, when I weighed myself).
It measures your body fat, body hydration, muscle and bone mass. Body Fat was "moderatley High" (there is one step above this); Water weight was "over"; muscle was normal; and bone mass was normal.

Lori I did not lose a lot the very first weeks either and when I started eating foods it started dropping. I also had that dreaded stall but mine was around week 5. You lost 15.5 lbs in 17 days, that is amazing!!! You are killing it. Just a bit from my experience....whenever I was not losing I needed to up my protein and calories. That was just my experience, though.

Christie, you're right. Getting more calories in did it to me finally. Not a whole lot of calories, but that one spoonful of smashed chicken helped I think. Now, still working on MORE water intake. I can suck down 11 oz of my protein drink in 35 minutes, but water takes 1 hour for 3 oz. I don't get it.

I'm happy for you! I'm 8 days post-op and I know I shouldn't let it bother me, but my scale didn't move today (and yesterday it was just a little). I did lose 15lbs (a couple of those were from the days before surgery), but I got worried that my loss would just start to slow to nothing by my second week.

I know, I'm worrying too much.

Your post made me happy though!

That is so awesome Lori! I can't wait to see the scale moving down, but it seems like it will be forever! I'm going to try to wait two months to weigh, just in case I lose nothing the first few weeks and also have a stall. I want to make sure I lose before weighing, otherwise I'll be depressed. I'm so proud of you, you're doing so very well. Keep it up!

After the first week when nothing was moving any further on me, I WAS depressed. "What the hell did I do to myself" "I maimed my body and nothing is coming off and I haven't had a dam thing to drink except a mouthful of SOUP!" Then, I tried getting in MORe water (some but still not much) and upped my protein drinks to 2 a day (I was amazed I could get in those 22 oz.). Then by the end of that second week it's taken off. (I did start walking pretty soon after I got home and do walk 2 miles a day outside), and the weight is coming off.

I see the surgeon tomorrow. I have some questions for him about working out with machines at the gym (arms, legs) and Zumba. I want to start back. ANd my acid reflux pill. I never had acid reflux before and now I get what feels like a lump, or something sitting at the base of my throat. No burning,no nothing like that, just this feeling I don't like on and off during the day. I take my acid reflux pill he prescribed around 4pm and I don't know if that's the right time of the day? I didn't want to take it early in the a.m. because I have soup at dinner (5) and want it to work.

Oh, and I drank my cranberry juice this morning with the pills and vitamins and supplements I take. It helped with the awful taste of the pills. (Like I mentioned in another post before: I never had a taste issue with my medications... NEVER. Now, I taste and smell everything.

YAY! this gives me a lot of encouragement and hope! Thank you! Our stats are fairly close too, so that helps as well. I just noticed that you had lost a lot of weight pre-surgery (I didn't have to diet pre-surgery), so that probably slowed your progress immediately after surgery.
