    Default Leafy Vegetables, Salad?

I'm no where near ready for eating a salad (had surgery 2 weeks ago today), but in my papers from my doctor and nutritionist, I swear, it says no raw vegetables until month 4? Now, I know my doctor is always on the STRICT side of everything, but wondered when lettuce/salad was allowed.

When I started on solids I would just try what veggies I wanted. I was fortunate because I never had any issues with any foods I ate. Nothing made me sick other than eating too much or too fast.

I was not allowed raw veggies til 3 months. I had no problems with anything (and I ate a ton of veggies) except lettuce. For some reason it was irritating and gave me bad gas. Fortunately, like all of my other post op food sensitivities, that went away around 12-14 months.

I can't honestly remember when I started eating salads, but I think I followed the rules for the first three months regarding raw vegetables. I blended my fruits and leafy greens in smoothies from about week two and I didn't have problems with digestion.

I would peel peaches and apples and dice them, and I also baked and poached them the first couple of months. I ate fruit a couple of times a week initially.

But following the protein first rule, you will find that you only have so much room left for salads maybe a few forks full. Even now, I eat salads (baby spinach, chard, kale blends) in small rankin bowls so I don't over do it.

By the way, yesterday I made spaghetti and meatballs with spaghetti squash, with a beautiful salad! and my 1.5 year old grandson ate more than me lol! That kind of made me feel better about my sleeve lol! I keep thinking I can eat so much more nowadays but, it is still a fraction of what I used to eat.
    Thank goodness!

Just remember to introduce foods one at a time, and chew them well and wait to see how you react. That has been a good rule to follow for me.
Reason: Protein fruits smoothies I added berries and leafy greens like spinach and kale

I have been eating my soups and scrambled eggs in ramekins. They are perfect! I bought a half dozen right before surgery and I absolutely love them. They hold just the right amount and I can't finish half of what I put in there anyway. (1 scrambled egg is 1/2 cup, which fits in the ramekin, but I only can manage half of that to eat.) I figure my salad eating will now take back seat to just a few bites from now on because of the protein first rule.

I can recommend you broccoli - one of the most beloved and very familiar vegetables that are eaten in the world. As you all know, broccoli is delicious and healthy, rich in many minerals and vitamins from B vitamins to vitamin C. Vitamins E to K, folic acid to potassium, calcium to iron and others. Broccoli spoils very quickly, so it is important to always keep this vegetable in the refrigerator. Personally, I find all the information about this vegetable on the website https://www.growgardener.com/how-lon...broccoli-last/ By the way, here you can also find recipes and many tips for cooking and storing.
