I have been checking the hospital's billing department online daily and our insurance company daily to see if anythings been submitted. Nothing yet BUT... the hospital shows charges for 1 day of $ 131,436.29. which they haven't submitted. Geez!

US medical complex 3rd most corrupt industry in the country.
It just blows me away how much US Hospitals charge. It's amazing what I paid to have surgery in a Mexico hospital plus 4 days in a gorgeous hotel with round the clock nursing care including 3 days I.V meds and all pre & post test. D/C meds, unlimited clear liquids. Only thing that wasn't was airfare. I thought the care I received was excellent and wouldn't want to go anywhere else. I've spent plenty of days in U.S hospitals and felt my experience in Mexico was better than some of my experiences in the U.S. Paid a total of 3,800$. One problem with our system is people with Insurance are charged at a higher cost to help subsidize uninsured patients.
I paid out of pocket and had it done in Florida at a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Three days as in patient on a telemetry floor. Super care and I paid the doctor 10K. He's super nice and works with my primary care provider here in Maryland!
I just wanted this surgery done and not wait a long time ti have it "approved".
Strange, the vast difference in our bills. My surgeon was $5000, assistant $1000 and one night stay inpatient facility fee was $700'ish. There was a fee for the anesthesiologist and I forget how much but I think it was in the $1500 range. Labs are $700'ish everytime they are drawn which add up since it has to be done so often to monitor. I think that is everything, for me.
I just my hospital bill, pre-insurance, and it was $12.5K. That's without charges for the doctors. I'll have to remember it and all the prep work that I had to go through, when I'm thinking about eating crappy slider food. Here's hoping and crossing my fingers that I don't let myself down.
The costs we paid for is a HUGE incentive to not stuff my sleeve! Not that I could anyway now.... I'm lucky to get in 1 1/2 tbs of nutrition as it is!
