Kudos to me!

Got my 3 year lab work done last week (ok, so Im 3 months late getting it done) and all my levels were great. Then I had my annual Gyn checkup today. She said I am the most successful WLS patient she has seen. Pretty much the only one that has maintained a healthy weight and diet. That really made me feel great. Especially since I've found myself sliding into bad habits lately (alcohol and deserts) and I'm actually a couple pounds above my bounce range. Her praise has motivated me to kick my own ass into gear and make dropping those extra lb.'s my #1 priority. Wouldn't want to compromise my status as a star patient!

I also bought a mountain bike last week and have committed to get on it every day. Even if it's just to cruise the little 4 mile loop near my house. So far so good. Not sure what Im going to do in the pouring rain/snow predicted for this weekend might have to break out my dust covered recumbent exercise bike to substitute in inclement weather.

Kindle, you're a true inspiration and lots of us veterans struggle with maintenance. You and others, who inspire me everyday help me to stay "true to my journey." Even if I've slipped a little here and there, it's easier to get off the extra 6-9 pounds that I keep gaining (and I know why) off and steady the course to keep the success I've achieved. Exercise is certainly a key component and thanks for reminding me that "It Can Be Done."

You know, so do I. I'm really not an attention-seeker, but I do often feel unappreciated. My job entails a lot of "behind the scenes" action that is either unnoticed or someone else often gets the credit for. So to be called out for something good I've done really makes my day. This was just the motivational boost I needed this week.

Great news and work. I myself love desserts even being less then 3 months post op I'm eating them I just make my choice of dessert to be a sugar free pudding with fresh mixed berries or things like it. I've found that satisfies my long standing dessert craze while still being a healthy choice.

I got a nice one last week. I was in line at the grocery store and was freezing. I commented to the clerk I was not used to being cold. She asked if I was from the south. I told her nope just had WLS and lost 100lbs. She said "I don't want this to come out wrong or offensive. But you don't look like you have lost that much."

Not that I wasn't skinny just that I did not have that sunken look. In other words, I looked naturally that size. I felt so good after that and I told her certainly appreciated her words.

Kindle, I certainly get your behind the scenes work. I work in IT Security and that is all back channel work and the only time anyone notices is when something goes wrong. Pat yourself on the back occasionally, its OK.

Kindle, You are such an inspiration! I enjoy hearing your little updates and stories. I want to get a bike, eventually. But I am the MOST uncoordinated person around and my husband worries I'll be lying on the side of the street somewhere! ANother 50 pounds and who knows. Keep up the amazing work!

I'm at the point now where most people don't even remember me fat. Or they'll say "Oh, you weren't that big." Really? A size 22 on a short person not big??
