As we all know from every person's surgeon's requirements, I noticed many people never had to do the pureed food phase. Some went straight to soft foods after the liquid diet. Did any of you have issues going on to soft foods? Just curious.

Keep it small and frequent. And foods that are not dense. Scrambled egg, fried egg, tuna, pudding, jello, yogurt, one of my favorites-Hormel turkey chili or corned beef hash. easy quick and not dense.
I got a new food processor for Christmas, purposely for this! I'm so ready to go on to pureed and soft foods. I did have scrambled eggs for dinner. Bland, but oh so delightful! This Friday I am crock potting chicken and broth, and a potato too. We'll see how this pureed/soft concoction turns out.

Chicken might be hard because it is a denser meat. If you do that, cook the thighs and not breasts. They are moister than the breasts and seem to be easier.
Anything you can smash up with your fork with ease is a soft food. I minced salmon as my go to protein. I didn't do well on chicken or meat until after 6weeks post op. I did well on Phở steak because it is thinly sliced! That was delicious!
I also loved blended miso soup with lots of tofu and seaweed!!!

My postop diet instructions were as follows....
Days 1-3 clear liquid
Days 4-18 full liquid
Days 19-27 pureed
Days 28-42 soft food
Day 43+ normal food except no raw veggies, seeds, nuts and other crunchy stuff until 3 months.
But My restriction was so great, I transitioned through my stages even slower than recommended. I overlapped liquids well into purees, purees well into soft food, etc. I wasn't comfortable eating soft food until I was basically into normal food stage and even then all I could fit was 1-2 tablespoons. Aaaahhhh...... Those were the good old days! Wish I could go back.
For soft foods I ate eggs, fish (oddly enough I had and still have a hard time with any white fish but salmon is fine), steel cut oats, and lentil and chicken soup (from the skinny taste website). I sort of grew obsessed with this soup and could still eat it everyday if my dr didnt tell me to stop (he told me to stop because eating the same thing over and over is being on a diet and this isn't a diet, etc.
My diet schedule: 1 wk clear fluids, 2 wks protein shakes, 2 wks pureed/soft food, 4 -8 wks intro to hard food at my pace. I am mid-way in the protein shake phase and have snuck in a tablespoon of cottage cheese here and there, every 3rd day. It gave me bad gas every time and some stomach irritation. It may be that I've become temporarily lactose intolerant. I wish my doctor's diet wasn't so stringent but it is what it is. But, I get it when the cottage cheese turns on me. I'm craving scrambled and hard boiled eggs like crazy. Just 7 more days...
Just stick with it. It's such a tiny period of time in the big scheme of things. And I found that just like exercising my body, exercising my willpower only makes it stronger. Which comes in very handy now that I am several years out with much less sleeve restriction.
This was my post op schedule
Stage 1 1 day of clear liquids only
Stage 2 7 days of protein shakes and other liquids nothing else
Stage 3 7 days protein shakes and smooth pureed foods (ie yogurt, creamed soups, baby food sf pudding)
Stage 4 6 weeks soft solid foods which did include dark meat chicken and turkey as well as ground chicken and turkey also eggs cottage cheese some fish (which i couldn't and still can't tolerate)
Stage 5 Low fat solid foods which is my permanent diet from here on out it pretty much includes all foods just watch the fat content.
That was my 2 months worth of my post op diet thankfully chicken is my favorite food so the 6 weeks was very easy for me. I'm hoping one day to be able to tolerate fish as I do love it.
