    Default Cream Soups, Post Op.

When were you given the OK to introduce cream soups into your diet? I've looked high and low in my nutritionist's papers and there is no creamed soups mentioned. I was so looking forward to something tasty coming up.
I had a blenderized vegetable soup for lunch... a treat from the chicken broth and soup I've been living on.

I ate them made with nonfat milk for added protein. Not sure if I was supposed to but I needed them for my own sanity. I feel like I have done really well post op.

I had dozens of cream soups in my liquid and pureed stages (even longer than that since they were so yummy). I pureed and strained anything with chunks in my liquid stage, skipped the staining part through my pureed stage, Added unflavored protein powder to them.....cream of spinach, cream of broccoli, cream of shrimp, butternut squash, French onion, lobster bisque, clam chowder, split pea, tomato basil, broccoli cream, wonton, etc. it was a wonderful break from all the sweet protein shakes.

I had bought cream soups through an online bariatric store. They really helped me.

Ok, great! I will pick up some cans tomorrow. I am looking forward to something I will enjoy to eat/drink. I made a comment tonight about my family's dinner and how GOOD it smelled, and my husbands said something like "Well, you liked your soup". Uh no, it was for nutrition. I didn't really care for it. I am hungry!

Never lol. Creamed soup was never part of my post op plan. Honestly, I don't think I could have handled them anyway. I was fine with my broth from the chinese food place and protein shakes. My plan was 2 weeks of liquids and then 2 weeks of soft foods (but never pureed food).

Leslie, I looked at Bariatric Advantage soups but wasn't sure if the comments were bogus. What did you use and were they good? Thanks, Laura

My diet restricts soups, cottage cheese until stage 3 which starts in 1 week. I'm stuck on only protein shakes, sf jello, broth, sf ice pops. Oy vey... I wish I had advice to give but I don't, sorry. But, I'm sending you good energy and support! All the best.

Cream soup is in my day 3-14 stage of full liquids. I make sure they are the fat free kind or 98 percent fat free, dilute with skim milk, and they have been a blessing this week.

I had surgery on 4/5, and was on "full liquids" (includes cream soups - no chunks) on 4/7. I'm struggling with the protein drinks though. For some reason, they give me the dry heaves (NOT fun less than a week post-op), even after 2 tiny sips.

    Hi!

I never could drink protein shakes, I have had the Carnation Instant Breakfast with Fairlife milk as I found I was lactose intolerant after surgery. Like you, I was on full liquids, including cream soups, from day 3.

    Good luck!

Hi. I am still preop and on liquid diet, protein shakes, Sf ice pops, sf jello, broth. I did discover that i can add berries or 1/4 banana to the shakes if carbs are low.

I have the following post op diet: 2-14 days full liquid, week 3-5 Pureed Diet, weeks 6-8 Soft food, weeks 9-12 Regular texture as tolerated. In the full liquid diet cream soups are included. Also included are milk, smooth yogurt, sf pudding, sf custards, stage 1 baby food, vegetable juice, and of course protein shakes broth a sf powder drinks.
