    Default Clothing Size Shocker!

When I went for my walk this morning, I tossed on an old tank top. It was loose because I haven't bought anything smaller. It was too chilly wearing the tank, but I persevered and did my half mile, then walked home. The next go round I knew I wouldn't wear that tank top, so I looked for another t shirt to throw on, but they are SO huge!
I went into my daughter's closet and grabbed a Mickey mouse t shirt off her hanger that she has yet to wear, put it on, and it fit! No 2x, no 1x, no 16, just a large. I haven't fit into "L" since 2013. What a great feeling, and I've only just had surgery last week. This perked me up somewhat. Now, to get in my next mileage walking the trail next door.

Patti, I physically feel OK. My abdomen doesn't hurt, just a slight burning from one of the five incisions, and if this fatigue from anesthesia decides to take a hike, I'll feel 100% better.

Congrats on the shirt size! The more protein and fluids you get in the less fatigued you will feel.

I was pretty tired the entire week after surgery.. I slept for days.......little by little my energy increased and I felt better... hang in there... the fact that u are motivated to walk is a huge plus in itself... don't push the length or time just yet...since u don't work, u have the luxury of free time.... which means u can take several shorter walks throughout the day.... enjoy that and make the best use of it... u can increase the intensity as u feel up to it...

I think I overdid it yesterday. I walked 2.17 miles and I felt it by late afternoon. I was in bed at 6:30 and fell asleep around 7pm (NO!!) I made myself wake up but was so very tired and it was a tired from exercise feeling. I got in almost 1 mile so far this morning, and will do a few more jaunts outside, but no more than a mile at a time.

Wow you are doing so good, as a RN I can tell you, as we start to do more exercise and take in more protein we start to build muscle and muscle weighs more than fat so measure your areas that was more fat than muscle and keep a record some times we don't thank about the measurements we just want to see the scale go down fast but I would love to get more muscle than to be left with a whole lot of sagging fat so you keep up what you are doing, your doing so good

This week I went through the same revelation. At my absolute best, my senior year in high school, I wore an XLT so my shoulders would fit in the shirt. Monday I had to go shopping for some new work shirts because I was swimming in my XLT's. It is a little disconcerting to look at those sizes and then to pick them up. I literally laughed at the LT I first picked up because there was no way I was going to squeeze into them. 8 months ago I was in a XXXLT going on a 4X. And the 38 waist pant, please. 8 months ago my thigh would have fit through the waist and my calf would have been tight in the thigh of the pant. The pockets did not pull like a kite in heavy winds and there were no truly unsightly bulges where they shouldn't have been. It is quite an adjustment. It feels good to physically realize the changes and have clothes that fit the way they should.

I just ran to Wal Mart and picked up some t shirts and a pair of shorts and unmentionables in smaller sizes. I figure with their prices, I even beat the thrift store pricing. I picked out clothing in the regular department, NO PLUS SIZE, some pastel t shirts that were size 12/14 (I was hoping) and went in to the dressing room and THEY FIT! I haven't worn a 12/14 since I was 16 years old and worked at Magic Mountain in Valencia CA. I don't get it (my scale isn't moving), but I went from a 2x/3x top over the last 2 months ago, to this, today! So my body is shedding inches still. I Love it!

Oh my gosh, that is so flipping cool, Lori! That is one of the things I am looking forward to experiencing! It must feel joyous and empowering to be able to shop in the regular clothing department. I can't wait to experience that too, in addition to just feeling better overall. One of my dreams is to go to Vegas and go to one of the cool outlet malls and go in to a normal store, and buy clothes I actually like! Sounds kinda dumb I guess, but I've been morbidly obese for over 20 years and haven't been able to do that. I won't have to buy "fat clothes" online anymore! I miss the experience of shopping in a physical store so much! Good work Lori, I know you've tried so hard, and you've succeeded! Congratulations on another non-scale victory!
