Got My Post Op Pictures!!!

We just returned from my doctor's appointment, 5 days after surgery. Everything looks good, no problems, and all in all I got a clean bill of health. And then he handed me souvenirs. Pictures of my surgery, the staples and stitches, my new sleeve in all it's tiny glory, my hernia repair and the stomach he pulled out. Being horrified and embarrassed -is an understatement. He has a picture taken of the stomach measured against his hand while his hand is on its side. A "normal" stomach he said, should be the length or a hair longer than his hand. Mine went to his bicep! I was mortified. He said "Now that's a lifetime of overeating." It is something to see, for sure. Could make a lovely refrigerator door picture.

I think I would put one of those pictures on the refrigerator door and one on the freezer door and one on the pantry door, just to keep my head screwed on straight. I don't know about you, but I'm already looking for things to keep me motivated and I don't even have a surgery date yet.

When the shock and awe riveted through me instantaneously, the thing actually reminded me of the neck (a VERY LONG neck) of the Thanksgiving turkey I pull out of the bird each year. I'm still blown away by the length of it.

Some good ideas, I definitely never want to forget because I don't ever want to go back so I think I'll keep my fat pics up too. Glad to hear you had a good postop check.

You could make magnets out of the picture and hand them out! That must have been a bizarre thing to see! I'm so glad you're ok and healing. How did it go with sleep last night? Hope you go some shut eye. You're in my thoughts and prayers!

Patti, I took TWO melatonin melts instead of one. It was better. I slept 4 hours, woke and tossed and turned a while, fell back asleep again for a couple hours. It was better. Going to do it again tonight.

I've got 9 colorful pictures. The last one, the length of that STOMACH, is the real eye opener! Looks like a 2 ft long tube sock! There are some nice ones of the new sleeve too. It's surreal to think that all that deconstruction and reconstruction took place in my abdomen one week ago today.
