Red face Renewed resolve, 9 months post op

    Hi Everybody
I just wanted to share a little about my journey and to get a little encouragement from all you supportive people! My surgery was last June. As of December I had lost about 79 lbs. It feels so amazing to be able to move again, And of course, looking better. I do Zumba, I can RUN up the stairs without getting winded, I walk/jog my dog, I can dance! My family just went to Vegas for spring break, and I didn’t feel horrible in my bathing suit at the pool! Last weekend I bought a dress for a wedding, NOT plus size, the 16 looked good, but then I tried the 14 and it looked even BETTER! Woo hoo!
Anyway, since December, I’ve been “cheating” too much. I’ll get serious for a few days, then I’ll binge on some chips or cocktails or whatever, so I’ve been losing/gaining the same 5 or 6 lbs between 190 and 196. My company is sponsoring a Biggest Loser contest, so I joined and I’m going to try to lose this last 30 lbs! My goal is 160 and this morning I was 189, so I’ve lost 85 lbs with 29 to go!
I need to get rid of the chips, no more alcohol! Back to protein snacks only, no sugar, no bread! I know I can do it! I’m wanting to up the exercise, and I’m bummed because I’ve been having back spasms! I think my body can’t take the jumping/jogging. I will try to start adding elliptical or stair machine, something low impact. Any good suggestions?
I haven’t posted much, but I have gotten a lot of support from this great community just be reading all the inspirational stories and great info on this site!! Thanks to all!

Hi and good job on the initial weight loss. First I suffer from 3 herniated disc that rest on my sciatic nerves I'm always in pain and used to get a bunch of back spasms. I joined Planet Fitness the ones in my area offer a hydro massage bed when your are a black card member an it is truly my saving grace when it comes to my spasms. After each workout I use the bed it is amazing the difference it has made in my back I would suggest looking into it in your area for me it is worth the extra 10 dollars a month i my membership. Now for some tough love I think you forgot that the sleeve is a tool it isn't the solution and I think a lot of people forget this at some point on our journey we are on. It is great you recognize the problem and are resolving it best of luck to you I believe you will be successful.

If you can do it maybe a clear liquid "reboot" for a week to purge your system and then go back to high protein lo carb choices? "Clean the slate" type of approach. This is what I plan on doing once I stall. I know I am a newbie but I think this would work.

Thanks, Donald, I will look into Planet Fitness and the hydro massage. Yes, I agree, the sleeve is a tool and it will only help us if we eat the right things (no slider foods)!

Tom I love your picture it made me smile! Yes, I was thinking about that reboot, if I keep blowing it I will do that. Thing is I'm usually really disciplined during the day and have no problem sticking to my plan breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's the night time munchies that get me every time. I'm making a deal with myself; after dinner the only thing I'm allowed to have is a protein shake. I can do chocolate or vanilla and I make it really thick like a frosty. That will certainly take care of any real "hunger" I have and will keep me losing.

I think the weight loss challenge is just the motivation you needed! You've come so far! You can do it! I was told by nutritionist to lead a low carb lifestyle to have the most success with my sleeve long term. I don't count carbs, but I just make good choices. Good luck.

Oikos triple 0 Greek yogurt is very good too, only 120 calories and 15 grams of protein. When I get an evening urge I find a ounce of cheese or a teaspoon of reduced fat Peter Pan PB works to fill me up. And still love the low calorie popsicles. Good luck!
