Smile 4 weeks post sleeve surgery

Morning, this is my first time on here. I had my gastric sleeve surgery 2/22/2017. Developed an abcess on my liver and have been living with a drain. Not fun. I just came back to work this week and didn't realize it was going to be this long of a recovery. Hopefully next week the drain will come out. I've had my regrets but I think once this drain comes out, I will be feeling better. Not having too much of cravings or hunger. I live in New Orleans and its crawfish season and that is the only thing I kind of wanted. I learned how to make a mousse with crawfish and it was great.

✨Welcome to the forum!✨ and to the new Sleeve life!

I'm sorry to hear you developed a complication in your liver, was that surgery related? What has your surgeon said in relation to occurrence and recovery?

    Wishing you continued healing.

Please keep us posted in your recovery progress.

Ps... love ❤️ Nola! Can't imagine living close proximity to all those amazing restaurants, though I imagine the crawfish boils aren't overly horrible to the newly Sleeved just don't eat the bread and potatoes or the drink the alcohol and just chew chew chew those lit suckers until you can't chew anymore.

I was told early on that crab was one of the easiest digested foods I can't imagine crawfish being far behind. Good luck on your continuing recovery.

Hi Rhea, So sorry you developed a liver abcess. Hope you make a full recovery soon. I had a drain for just 3 days and found it annoying and was so happy to get it removed except I was nervous to get it out. Very Weird sensation when the nurse pulled it out. Take Care and keep us posted on your recovery.

There is always the possibility of complications. Some of us get lucky and skate through with no complications and others unfortunately get one or even many. Sorry to hear you have a one and have to have drains. Hopefully they come out soon and you continue to heal and enjoy your new sleeve.

There's many types of food I couldn't eat for several months post-op, but from 12 months out it started to get better. You can try again in a few months, you might be able to tolerate it again. Shrimp is really dense and I always try my best to chew more those than regular fish. And I eat less shrimp than I would eat other protein because I feel like "stuffed" really fast.

Sorry about your complication, hope it's a distant memory soon! And crawfish will be the perfect sleeve food. I eat so much more seafood than meat now, my tummy likes it better.

Thanks, and yes the abcess was a result of the surgery so the doctor told me. Here I am going into week 5 and still having the drain. Its aggrivating because if you roll on your side it wakes me up and so Im not getting proper rest. All in all - Im doing fine with the eating. I won't go to a restuarant cause yes we have some of the best. But there are creative ways of eating seafood and that is so good for you!
