Default I Did It - Where's My New Toaster Oven?

    Hi Everyone,
I got snipped and now am an official sleever. According to the secret sleever club guidelines, I'm supposed to get a toaster - I got NADA! Where is it?!

    Operation Pros:
    - they repaired a hiatal hernia (I was born with it, but the doc who did the pre-op upper GI said I didn't have it; I won't be going back to him.)

    - I've started to lose weight rapidly (yeah, baby!)

    - They found a medical issue that no one knew about, including the pre-op cardiologist - I won't be going back to her.

    Operation Cons:
    - my body is one big bruise

    - sipping fluids on a tender stomach sucks (I don't care that I just did a lousy pun there)

    - had some post-op complications due to anesthesia - my throat was swollen, couldn't talk well for 3 days, thought I was going to be hoarse all of my remaining life - they had to intubate, my respiratory system crashed... blah, blah, blah...

    - My new medical issue that no one knew about - heart bloke, not blockage. It means that the electrical currents in my heart are off, which means... wait for it... I am looking at a pacemaker! Not as good as a toaster, but it will be shiny and new!

I'm doing well and looking forward to getting out of the house and watching people eat great, gooey crap that I don't (really) want to eat. As the spouse consumes, I watch and silently judge. Put this on my pros list, it's a new hobby!

I hope everyone that sleeved along with me are doing well. Glad to see all the love and support on the forum. Y'all are the best!

Sorry about the extra finding but hey it is good to find out when it is just found and not because something bad happened.

Don't judge to much, it may make you angry. LOL. I did a little then thought to myself-how long did it take you to get here?

    Hi Greg!
So good to hear from you!!! I'm a little slow right now due to no real reason and I'm not sure what you are asking when you ask how long did it take me to get here.

    Hi Ann2!
Thanks for the welcome to the bench! It's a much nicer view here than on the other side, the waiting for the operation to happen and all the prep. I'm just so glad that I'm walking, talking, and sipping. (Thanks to Greg for the 'sip, walk, sip' mantra!)

    Hi Tamera,
I'm becoming the new $6M woman, but without the big hair and aloof attitude. Ha! (Just showed my age, no one under 45 knows what I'm talking about.)

Humor is a coping mechanism for me. It's gotten me through a lot in life. Plus, if others laugh along with me, it's becomes a symphony of joy. (Dang, that's good, gotta write that down. I like to write in my spare time .) I'm in a good mood and it's not due to any pain killers, not taking them, don't need them. I'm sincerely happy to have made it through the surgery; I was so worried.

I'm glad you are recovering and kind of happy for that that they found out about your heart issue, not happy that you have a heart issue mind you but happy they discovered it before it became a real big problem for you. I was heavily bruised on my stomach after surgery took a good few weeks for the bruising to go away but it didn't hurt.

Hi Am-grrl, thanks for the well wishes. I agree with you and others regarding knowing now rather than later about my heart problem. I'm so glad you get my humor! That makes me feel warm. And the judging is said in jest but it's turning out to be real, too. I'm looking at the spouse eating crap food and I see me and what I was doing. I had a weird realization while watching: if it could fit on a plate, it was a serving! Whhhaaaattttt!! I knew better but still tried to rationalize my behavior. Funny how we lie to ourselves. Hey, we do the best that we can until we are strong enough to face it and move on. All the best!

Laura, no worries. I was slow for a few weeks. The lack of protein and nutrients will do that to you.

I was asking myself the question "how long did it take" because I was becoming the former fat guy lecturing people on how to eat. It didn't work for me until I was ready.

    ✨Glad to hear from you!✨

I'm glad you will be taking care/be vigilant of the new found health issues closely.

For me the first few months were a roller coaster of emotions of thrill and happy anticipation as the leaner me started emerging. There were moments of uncertainty as I started dealing with my food related dysfunction in a real and raw ways never done before. Being sleeved forced me to parent myself, and protect my new tummy as a new born babe. I didn't want to do anything to cause me irreversible injury so following the rules was the hardest thing I have ever done (still do).

Being sleeved in an unsleeved worlds comes with it's inner cons/pros. Just know you are mot alone in this journey!

    Wishing continued healing and success.

Laura, you're doing so well, even with your added surprises.
I have to have humor in my life... it's what has kept me sane for decades through life's unexpected circumstances. I too like to write, I have a blog that I've neglected lately because this surgery has consumed me, and no one knows anything about it so I haven't blogged about it. Someday, maybe.

Hi Don, thanks for the well wishes. You're right, the bruises don't hurt, but the shades are just not in my color wheel. LOL. The worst bruise is about 6 X 8 were they gave me repeated shots in the side to prevent blood clots. They administered the shots like they were throwing darts. Sorry, I'm whining now. I'm just so glad to be alive and on the other side of it all.

Greg, I don't lecture anyone and promise that I won't lecture, especially about emotional vices. I quit smoking 10 years ago and the spouse just quit this last fall. I know what it was like to struggle with emotional pain and trying to get rid of a killer habit that became attached to it. Same goes with obesity. I'm dealing with it and the spouse will deal with it when ready. BUT, I can joke about it here and talk about silently judging them.

We have a couple that we are close to and they have already told me that they will feel weird eating around me. They said they aren't feeling weird about eating in my face - they just don't want to see me eating a hell of a lost less than what is on their plates. Ha-Ha! My friends, spouse, and I are all obese so it's going to be interesting to see how all of us adjust to the changes that are to come. I gotta laugh at it all, life is so weird.
