did I need the hiatal hernia repair surgery also?

Hi everyone I had gastric sleeve surgery about 8 days ago and everything went very well the surgery itself doesn't even bother me the only issue that I seem to be having is with the hiatal hernia repair the pain is been unbearable and then I got to thinking if I even needed that hernia procedure at all please let me know your thoughts on this I really do appreciate it

Hi Rob, Its my understanding you do need to repair a Hernia, if left untreated it leaves you with potential problems you will not like. You will be sore from that but should start to get better. If your not improving I would contact your doctor. Hope you feel better soon.

Short answer is yes as it is a contributing factor to acid reflux.

So sorry you are having the severe pain.
I also had to have a hernia repair during Sleeve surgery. I didn't have any of the pain you describe and as a bonus, the hernia repair helped my acid reflux issue too. I also received a cd showing my surgery and the repair.
Please talk to your surgeon about the ongoing pain you are having. There must be some relief they can help with.

I also had a hiatal hernia repair with my sleeve. It's something that needs to be repaired whether you get a sleeve or not. It'll get better.
